I think I'm much closer to finishing the game in UDK than starting almost from scratch in UE5.

Moving a game to UE5 is not automatic, all the programming has to be redone, and the current assets have to be improved, with more geometry, more detail, better textures and better materials... if you want to see any difference with the current assets.

Too much work for one person. If the UDK version is a insane amount of work, with the UE5 version it would take 300 years... I wouldn't get into UE5 without first having funding and a confiable team, and probably, more time to dedicate to the game, and not only my free time, about 3 - 5 hours per day.

Thank you, many animations are mocap from Mixamo, others are handmade and very improvable... but I hope to be able to release a demo and get funding so I can hire people to improve all the assets.

Code 85%, graphics and others 50%.

It's UDK, not Unity. But you're right, it's very difficult for me to finish and publish the game. I try, though.

That was the idea, I had planned to make more videos of combats in groups, or against animals. But I'm busy now with other things in the game.

If it were true that I was looking for a job, I wouldn't be developing a game in UDK, I would be doing it in UE5 or any other modern engine. No one in today's industry would hire a UDK programmer.

I'm not looking for a job in any company, I already have a good job. I simply make a game because it is something I have always wanted to do and dedicate myself exclusively to doing this.

Thank you, the idea is to publish a free beta to request funding. But things are more complicated than it seems, due to the type of game it is, I have to finish many things and have certain parts of the map quite finished, which implies being quite close to 100% of the game finished.

You are right that constantly seeking to improve something makes you enter an endless loop, but you have to find a middle position, a point where you can say "this is acceptable," and later, once published, improve it.

Now my work rate is slow, I am working in the game in my free time and without any help. That's why it's taking me so long and I don't venture to give any publication date yet.

No worries, I appreciate it. When I publish a demo I will announce it everywhere. For now, what helps me is getting people talking about the game and more people know it, sharing videos on social networks and things like that.

Yes, I want to publish a demo in Patreon or similar, but I need to finish a demo first. It's taken more work than expected.

I think that female version was about 300, the current is > 600.

Thats the plan, I want to make a free demo with some quests and publish it in Patreon or similar platforms. But I have to finish too many things before. The game now is not playable, too many bugs, too many things that worked before but not now, and the things cost more work than expected.
Thanks to both.

I'm working alone now, but I've had help from 3d modelers before.
Other models were purchased from sites like Turbo Squid, and most animations are mocap's from Mixamo.

The engine only compiles for Windows, IOs and Apple OS, and the current versions of the latter two I don't think will run it. The engine is outdated.
I don't know yet if the game can run in SteamOS.

I hope that before a year, but I don't dare to say it because unforeseen events always arise and in a team of only one person, an unforeseen event is to stop everything.

Well, Chicago is a bit far for me (I'm in Spain), but I'll try to find something online, thanks for the tip.
In any case, the game is not about the Sumerian or Babylonian culture, the name is provisional. I think I have abused the resemblance to those cultures, when it is a fantasy game with no intention of being historically correct.

Hi Nidal, I hope to be able to do all that soon, at the moment the game does not have a definitive name, nor a web page. I'll go a little further in development and when I'm close to having the demo, I'll seriously advertise it.
You are doing a great job with your game. Good luck too.

Thanks for your support, I have plans to have a Patreon, but first I have to finish a lot of things to be able to offer a demo. I think it is the best option, to offer a demo and then accept help from those who want to see the game finished.

No, I would have to learn the new language for the code and the new engine methods, and remake everything from scratch.

And going to UE4 would not make sense if the graphics are not greatly improved, which means more work, more time, and surely it would be impossible for me to finish the project in a human life without help.

No, sorry. UDK only can compile for Windows and OSX. It's an old engine. I hope to move to UE5 for the next project.

I would like to prepare it for mods, but I still don't know very well how to implement them in UDK, I don't know if it is possible to add cooked files to the game. Probably no problem modifying textures and even modifying models, but adding things... not sure.

I hope to finish it before your retirement.

I'm working on it, but I don't know when it will be ready. Probably the demo will be free, and the game cheap as indie.

Thanks, there are some on line stores like the UE4 one, Turbosquid, CGtrader, etc.
The dificult part is to adapt the meshes to the game, reducing polygons, unifiying uv maps to reduce materials/drawcalls, etc. It's easy, but tedious and very time consuming.
