I don't know if this helps with the crashing problem because it just happened to me. But whenever i get done with a battle it shows my home screen for a second and whenever i exit out of the game it says something like rome total war had an error. trying to fix the problem or at least something along those guidelines.

I just downloaded the mod and when I went to play on the campaign mode as the greeks I was losing approx. $4000 a turn and when i went to check upkeep was in the thousands range when I only had like 6 units max in the settlement. I went into the export_descr_unit folder and some of the unit's upkeep were in the 1000 dollar range and that was just for my infantry.
