Using schnitzeltests ReShade, this mod, and a little bit a tweaking, I have managed to create the best guide out there to create the best experience out there for Assassin's Creed.

You can there read how to get this mod to work as well, since that might be the problem most of you will encounter trying to install this.

Enjoy!

I have created a very into detail guide which includes your ReShade and the mod, and other things. It is the best way to play the game atm, and I hope you are alright with it. Thanks!

Yo! I did everything as you said, tried both methods, with and without your ReShade, with a new game save file and with an already existent save file. No matter what, the game freezes. Either while moving the character a little, or while getting the white screen loading. I am not willing to give this mod another chance or try. I have given it enough as it is. Lost way too much time trying to make it work before, and now as well.

I am sorry, but I appreciate the help. I have no idea why it works for you, but for most others it does not. There has to be a reason, but maybe the reason has nothing to do with the way we use/install the mod at all, but with something else like the version of the OS, drivers, GPUs or whatever, dunno.

By the way, just so you know, what you wrote in the guide is pretty much what I already have tried before, but still I did everything again exactly as you have written it, hoping that maybe I have missed something when I tried before. Unfortunately there has not been any difference in the end.

LAST EDIT UPDATE:

Been tweaking a little bit more with the mod, and also found a way to make it work with schnitzeltest's ReShade as well. I found out that uMod & OpenTexMod, after doing some research, that they don't always work together with ReShade or SweetFX. So the fix is to use the old TexMod. I tested it and it works flawless. Just make sure to make the executable Large Address Aware, as I said before, otherwise the game might crash or freeze.

If you do not wish to use the ReShade, you can use uMod/OTM instead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT UPDATE4:

I can't believe that after so much time I am still trying to make this work, but I can't believe even more is the fact that I have finally managed to make it work. I think I found the reason why it was giving me crashes and freezes. I used the Large Address Aware to enable 2gb+ memory to be allocated by the AC exes.

I have also renamed the dx10.exe to dx9.exe, and viceversa, to trick Ubisoft Connect into launching the dx9 automatically.

And lastly I have downloaded the uMod and have used it instead of OpenTexMod. UMod is the "sequel" of OpenTexMod. I have used the stable version, not the alpha one. You can also make a template and have the program "install" the mod automatically as well.

I now, finally, am going to enjoy the game. Thank you for the mod. Owner, if you still exist, include the info I have just provided. To allow people experience your work.

There is one bad thing though, schnitzeltest's ReShade seems to break my game if installed after doing all the stuff I have written. If I have it installed Ubisoft Connect won't launch my game anymore, but give an error.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT UPDATE 3:
Restarting the PC fixed the OTM not detecting the game open, but after playing for some minutes the game went once again not responding. And now OTM no longer wants to see ACDX9 open no matter what. Reinstalling both OTM and the game, and restarting the PC, do not help. Why am I wasting my life like this?

EDIT UPDATE 2:

It worked well for a while, until it froze out of nowhere, went not respoding and now OTM does not want to see the game anymore. Tried reinstalling the game and OTM, but it did not help. There is something rotten in this mod, OTM, the game itself modded or whatever. And something rotten in me still wasting time trying to make it work after such a long time.

Oh, but, the bright side is that schnitzeltest's ReShade works flawless and bring life to the game with or without the mod. So there's that at least, gratz! It looked waaay better with the mod though.(but only with DX9, so I still have to run the game from shortcut/main folder)
It really sucks. I really want to make this mod work...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT UPDATE:
It seems I have found out the reason why it was not working for me. I used the OTM template as default, to automatically apply the mod. If I first open OTM, then the game and let it load to the menus, then ALT+TAB OTM and apply the .tpf, it works flawless. It seems that if one lets the software do it automatically it does something wrong I guess.
P.S. I also used the Reshade provided by schintzeltest, and with this I also want to thank him for that. (and hecumarine for the mod obviously, but I really hope he learns to explain better how one is supposed to install his mods)
P.S.2 I used the dx9, since dx10 has issues with the mod. I did not use the launcher to start the game (Ubisoft Connect in my case), but "AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe" present in the game's main folder

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't recommend anyone to try this mod. I've been wasting my time for two days to make it work. And believe me, I tried all possible ways out there. Neither OTM nor TM works with Dx10, with TM+Dx9 the game crashes while loading, with OTM+Dx9 the game freezes after I start moving the character. This mod might have worked sometime before, but at the moment when I write this it did not work t all. Or hey, maybe it does not want to work for me, maybe it will work for you. If that's the case then good luck with it, but I wouldn't bother if I were you.
