Pokémon: Generations

Game review

One of the best fan-games ever made!

Pokemon Generations... Just the name is great! Pokemon Generations - or PokeGen - is a Pokemon game like no other. The graphics are IMPECABLE, and the gameplay is off the hook. A 3-Dimensional skirmish-style Pokemon game is something that's been requested since the early days of Pokemon. Sure, we've seen incantations on the Nintendo 64, Gamecube, and Wii, but none of those even hold a candle to this beauty!

Despite it's massive potential, that's the problem: it's only showing potential. The game has the workings to be the best Pokemon game in the history of the franchise, but the game is currently VERY simplistic and updates are only semi-frequent and, most of the time, trivial at best.

Now, one could argue that small updates every two weeks is way more than most fan-games see, and they'd be right. The problem is that the developers of PokeGen have opened a Pandora's Box of awesomeness that they may be unable to close, because players of a game of this caliber would typically expect updates at least once a week for the grade of update we're currently getting. A two-week wait time would imply a much bigger update.

Despite all of that however, PokeGen is an incredible step in the right direction, and hopefully that direction leads to a full version that will give any Pokemon game we've played and loved a run for it's money!
