Im a freelance graphic designer and programmer, with 8 years plus experience in the graphic design field. I have made logotypes and other artwork for many projects, most of what are Command & Conquer related.
Myself and Morpher had a few discussions and agreed that we needed to pull away from the classic style that was being over used. Because most of the ingame sprites and design reflect what the project actualy is about, a simple yet solid logotype was designed, becuase we really did not need a flashy on anymore
There are some nice wallpaper packs on the way in the future!
Classic was getting far overused, and Twisted Insurrection is pulling away from the style the of Tiberian Sun, but i kept the nice Tiberium green!
I would love to add garrisoning to TS, yummy!
This is not called the Westwood 2D engine >_>
DuneII only shares the Westwood library, but it was not until C&C DOS that the first C&C RTS engine started, the code and class pattern can be seen from C&C DOS until RA2: Yuri's Revenge, Generals is where this engine departed.
The last game i see with the base Westwood library with somewhat existence is C&C3.
Just so some of you "Odyssey Groupies" know, 'when' released, it will contain a full GUI installer, aimed to be much like what C&C95, RA95, TS and RA2 had. :)
The C&C Tiberian Odyssey indie project is not accountable for any deaths related to its work and/or progress.
You did, and now your here! ;)
What about them?
TI will hopefully use my patch, handled "HyperPatch". It plans to add new features and expand existing features, and possibly fixing bugs in the 2.03 patch. More info here Ppmsite.com
Wow, im part of the lucky few who get to play it already when i want :P
Dune II used its own engine that was only shared a tiny bit by C&C Dos and RA Dos.
From C&C95 to YR they all shared the same core engine, with massive improvements and optimisations that began with TS. This was the Westwood Isometric 2D Engine or W2D.
Dune2000 had a totally new engine.
Renegade, was the birth of the C&Cs version of the SAGE engine, Battle For Dune was the first game to use a VERY early version of the SAGE build. But it all began with Renegade and the W3D was the first major build of the engine. When moved to a RTS for-front for Generals, it was rewritten, with the rendering core intact, into SAGE (Strategy & Action Game Engine).
Somewhere in here is SAGE 1.2, LoTR games...
SAGE2 come around with Tiberium Wars and Kanes Wrath, a LOT of work was put into SAGE2, graphics rendering and internally. Dont underestimate it...
Then comes the "RNA" or SAGE-RNA, what RA3/Uprising runs on. It has a whole new pipeline of updates, these varied from memory handling optimisations to little tweaks and changing the core script language quite some more, something that had not been done since Generals.
Tiberium Twilight uses SAGE-RNA, but not much has been updated, shame since SAGE is/can-be a very powerful engine if given time.
Oh, dont forget, SAGE has some LITTLE snippets of code from the original Westwood library's of W2D back from 1996, so in a way, Westwood does live on in new C&C games!
Possible, im looking into it...
