Intel wants to plug into your mind.

CaptMagic Blog

One in four
Facebook users lies on their accounts, sometimes for privacy, and what’s the
other time for? Just for the heck of it? In a survey done with about 2000
people, about 25% said that they put in some false information to protect their
identities which I could understand for that newb of the internet, who has
probably never used a site like Facebook, but it you’re going to be adding
people that you know in real life, why should you lie in the first place? I don’t
get it, I could understand on a site like YouTube, were you’re planning on
being a content creator, and you’re still a bit iffy about letting people know
your real name age and location, will I guess age has nothing to do with this,
but name and location, that’s a biggie for people who are trying to remain as anonymous
as possible without going all James Bond on people.

Next we
have Company of Heroes 2, the announcement came at about nine o’clock this Monday
morning, to day of course being May 7th 2012, and the article on
Joystiq.com says that the game has an early 2013 release so if you’re a fan of
this game, or just want to try it out for the first time, I would recommend
playing the first game before the second one, that’s just logical, but getting
back on subject, if you want to play the game, you’ll have to wait till early
next year to do so.

Next, the
Crysis 3 concept art is amazing, according to the people over at Joystiq.com
anyway, I kind of have to agree with them though, the concept art looks
AMAZING, now I have not yet played the game, so I can’t give an honest review
of it, but it looks just visually stunning, I can’t even tell that it’s a video
game just by looking at the art work. This is a game that I would love to play,
even if it were just for the art work, that’s what I did with that PS3 only
game Journey, it weren’t for the game looking as well as it is, I would have
not liked it as much. I find that the art work for a game are half the job, if
the game does not look good, chances are people are not going to want to play
it, the other half is the story line of the game, if the story is bad, the game
will be rendered unplayable, and art work and story line go hand in hand, well
that’s what I think anyway.

And
finally, Intel wants to implant some sort of device in your brain that can somehow
hook up to your smart phone, this is cool as well as creepy, it adds a whole
new meaning to the term “Hands free technology” a CNN report says that ‘soon they’ll
just plug it into your brain and everyone will start laughing like it’s one big
joke, but it is not.’ Personally I would not mind trying this, it sounds cool,
having the ability to control your smart phone with your mind.

Drwsomthing's subliminal advertisments

CaptMagic Blog

If you’re a
fan of the game DrawSomething, and you’ve noticed more and more Hockey related doodles,
don’t worry, that was planned, the NHL (or the National Hockey League for those
non-sports people out there), was the first to hop on to the DrawSomething subliminal
advertisement band wagon I think that it’s a cool thing, people don’t get
plastered with ads, but potential advertisers still get their ads out there,
and the people over at DrawSomething gill get money, it’s a win-win for every
party involved!

Up next we have
the mythical 4inch iPhone. Yesterday (Yesterday being Thursday May 3rd
2012) the website devoted to Apple news that is not Apple.com by the name of
iLounge.com leaked mockups of what the next iPhone might look like, standing
125MM’s tall, and having a 4inch screen, it really is not that much bigger than
the iPhone 4 and 4s, the only difference is from the outside of the phone is
the screen, and the height of the device, it looks more tall than wide on the
website, who knows what it will be running, probably the latest version of the
latest Apple mobile IOS.

Last but
not least, Harmonix has rumored to be working on a motion gaming IP, with a
story line. So, does this mean there’s going to be a “Rockband: Air hero” game
coming to the market soon? Or maybe an “Airguitar hero”? No? It was worth a shot.

A microsoft patent could make your hands the contrilers

CaptMagic Blog

, let’s get
things rolling with that Microsoft Patent shall we? This particular patent is
somewhat reminiscent of that old Nintendo classic, the Power Glove, but it’s slightly
more up-to-date on all the latest technology.
What I’m getting from the article on Joystiq is that the armband/glove
will respond to movement, I’m guessing through sensors places throughout the
device. But there is no real way to know what it’s going to be like until we
can see a demo of it, but it is one more step towards the future of not only
gaming, but the future of the world.

Target is
finally kicking out the Amazon Kindle out of its stores, which seems like a bad
business model seeing as how it was their bestselling item on Black Friday. BUT
they will continue to sell the Nook, and I’m guessing the iPad as well. I don’t
see why they are going to sell just the iPad and iPhone, when Bestbuy and
Wal-mart sell both iPads AND Kindle, again Target, that’s a bad idea to sell
just one of them, but who am I to care, I’m not the one who made the choice to
stop selling the Kindle.

Do you want
to listen to the soundtrack for Max Payne 3 without playing the game? Well I
have some good news, the soundtrack will be hitting stores, I’m guessing online
only stores this May, on the 23d to be precise, the band that’s creating the
music for the game, Health, has created a few hundred hours of music that has
been condensed for listeners, RockStar’s soundtrack supervisor Ivan Pavlovich
said that by using a live band instead of computer generated music, they have
created a soundtrack that’s more unique, so if you want to buy the music, you
can on May 23d.

And
finally, Ubisoft is going to be making some upgrades, not foe their games
though, for their studios up in Toronto Canada, reports say that they will be
taking on aver 800 new employees over the next ten years, Now I don’t exactly
know how they’ll accomplish that goal, maybe by hiring 50 to 100 people per
year? I don’t know, the one thing that I do know however, this must mean that
they have a lot of new content coming out, thus the increase of people, only
time will tell though.

CoD: black ops 2 trailer leaked

CaptMagic Blog

The CEO of Sega Mike Hayes is stepping down, but might not be completely leaving the company; reports from Joystiq.com say that he might stick around as advisor to the next CEO. Now what this means for Sega is uncertain, I guess we’ll have to wait and see, Sega’s American branch had recently suffered some serious cut backs on employees, and they have had some game cancelations to boot, but Sega is still determined to deliver games in a safe way.
The trailer for Call of Duty: Black ops II has been leaked by the web site for the game over in the UK, and it hints at a November 13th release date, I guess the lesson that that needs to be learned here is to never put anything on the internet that should not be on the internet, like the old saying, “What happens on the Internet, stays on the Internet” but then again, someone could have accidently put the trailer on line without the word from the head honcho of the operation. So fans of the Call of Duty games, mark your calendars for November 13th and start warming up those trigger fingers of yours.
Last but not least, Microsoft is investing over 300 Million US dollars in the Barns&Noble Nook E-Reader, now what this means is that Microsoft will ultimately take the Nook, and revamp it, and through it back out on the market to compete with the other E-Readers/Tablets out there, like the iPad. I think that this will be great for sales of the Nook, as well as Barns&Noble. Barns&Noble shares shot up by nearly 90% due to the investment, and Microsoft’s shares only went up about 0.4% not really all that great compared to Barns &Noble but hopefully they’ll shoot up once the new Nook is out on the market.

Phone wars

CaptMagic Blog

To think,
only a year ago, Samsung was in fourth place in terms of bestselling
smartphones, but it has since skyrocketed to first place, beating out Apple,
Nokia and Blackberry, and Nokia was in first just last year to, but it has now
has dropped to third, but I think there is a chance that it will rise again
someday, everything has its ups and downs every now and then, there’s no saying
were Nokia will be a year from now, same thing with Samsung, Apple and
Blackberry, I think that every smartphone, no matter the carrier, will have its
time in the spotlight, it’s just that now it’s Samsung’s turn, and for the past
fourteen years, it was Nokia’s turn, but with the release of the Galaxy Note, I
think it will be a while before that happens.

If you’re a
fan of Sony more that Samsung, Nokia or Apple, then the new Sony Erickson might
be the smartphone for you, well I don’t know it you would consider the Erickson
to be a smartphone, it’s more of a PSP Go, that has the capability to make
phone calls and text messages, and the next generation is going to have some new
features, but the one that is getting the most attention right now is the fact
that it is getting a patent for dual keypads that will be, you guessed it,
touch sanative. Sony is currently talking with the US patent office to get the
idea patented for them. Now I have no idea if Sony knows that Apple has a key
pad for the iPad that you can split apart so that it feels more ergonomic when holding
the device in your hands, but then again, it’s not patented, and I have no idea
if the patent that Sony is getting is for two qwerty keypads, or on that has
half on one side and the other half on the other side of the screen, there is
no way for me to tell until the phone is out on the market.

Go Right is a stunning tribute to 2-D side scrolling games, hence the name. And

CaptMagic Blog

First off,
there is a video on YouTube entitled “Go Right” by the YouTube user
“RockyPlanetsimal”, the video is a compilation of clips from all sorts of 2D
side scrolling games, from Metroid to Donkey Kong, and everyone In between

The second
story is about EA filing a trademark for “SimOcean” from the article on Joystiq;
it sounds like a simulation game that stars none other than Aquaman himself, I
think it might be a SimCity type game, but with Aquaman at the center of
attention, not my sort of game, I mean, I like games like the Sims, and
SimCity, but a game that revolves around Aquaman that has a lot to do with a
SimCity game, thanks, but I think I’ll pass on this one, I had the same feeling
playing Halo wars, It’s a civilization type game, but with a Halo skin, and the
game was easy to beat to, I do not recommend Halo wars to any one, if you are
thinking of buying it, rent it first. Getting back on the subject, SimOcean
sounds a lot like SimCity, but underwater. I’d play it, but only to get a feel
for what it could be like, I want to try to keep an open mind about it until I
play it.

Nintendo realted blog.

CaptMagic Blog

Footage of
Wii-U game play was recently leaked, and Nintendo is setting a high bar for
sales of the Wii and Wii-U at the end of March 2013, but we’ll all be dead way
before that, so who really cares?

So first
off, some footage of Rayman Legends got leaked this week for the Wii-U, the
video on Joystiq.com shows the Wii-U’s Near Field Communication, or the NFC for
short. The video on Joystiq.com somewhat hints that Ezio Yes Ezio from Assassins
creed MIGHT be able to be in the game, IF you have an Ezio action figure lying
around.

The final story is that
Nintendo has predicted that the sales of the Wii-U and the Wii consoles will be
over 1o million dollars by the end of March next year, Now if I were Nintendo,
I would not want to count my chickens before they hatched, Now I know that
there’s no real way to tell how good Nintendo’s sales will be next year, And
there’s no real way to tell how popular the Wii-U will be until it hits the
shelves, I think, for Nintendo’s sake it sells well, But if you compare the Wii
to the PS3 or the Xbox 360, the PlayStation and the Xbox come out on top for popularity,
I mean the PS3 has a blue-ray player built in, and the Xbox has an easy, fun
and secure way to play online with friends, so that’s why I think that Nintendo
needs to lower their expectations a little, but like I said, there is no way to
tell how good the sales will be.
