1. The marriage would be considered the Elven equivalent of pedophilia. 2. He didn't want to hand over Rivendell to some loser who thinks he's Isildur's heir.
Besides shes like over 9000 years old.
Wasn't it 2000? Either way, she still a bit too old for him.
