I didnt know about F5,now i save my game by hitting f5 it says quicksave ok.Then i can load.I didnt try with f1

Why I can't save game?I tried to remove that Option file and nothing happened.I'm playing any storyline but I cant save it,is there a way or it is automatically saved?If so,then I might have a problem cuz when i close game and i made a long progress it aint saved.
