Beta 5 will come lads, it's in the long winded process of being 'transplanted' from the old Ep1 codebase to the new OrangeBox codebase and getting verious changes along the way (time willing) as well. There is also a serious house-cleaning session going on with the code whilst this is happening, so it wont be done in a flash.

Finally, the team did also have a bit of a hiatus between B4 and B5 so that's why you havent heard anything for a long time, although the site should probably have something put up to just let people know we haven't completely died...

Okay guys, with the release of Beta 4B the discrepancies between servers should be a thing of the past. I know its not B5 but we needed to knock the server problems on the head so we can keep the fun going whilst B5 is polished up, its better than nothing...

Hey guys, just to let you know we are aware we totally binned the release date but this was due to unforseen circumstances, such as the entire Source SDK having a rewrite and shaders, collision and a whole host of things working differently from before so we have had to recompile maps, code and all sorts! We are in the process of also trying to get the HEX gametype sorted, up and running and then thrashing it about until its fun. We will release Beta 5, we are NOT dead (as some people think, grr) and we will get it out to those of you who want it as soon as we can. For now, see you laters kids.

If you information more up to date than checking here, why not sign up to our forums, we promise we wont bite and you will prbably gleam far more info from the regulars there than you ever will here.

There has been a rubber band fix(thanks to Dys for that) so you shouldnt have collision problems or 'stickness' that all mods suffer from. The tutorial DOES work now and yes, the aura view does slowly take stamina from the Hidden. Any other questions!!?? :D

If all goes well in the final stages of thrashing the s**t out of it, we should see a Beta 4 release for the weekend. Rejoice at the revised hit boxes, lack of 'stickness', and more features and fixes than you can shake a stick at. See you on the other side.

We must be special people, we must! For those wondering why June 10th has come and gone with no update...i have no real reason. We are just finishing up and tweaking a few things but essentially B4 is ready to go. Look over the site next week, you should have what you want.

Dont expect the big updates we have had before (it has only been five weeks after all!) but there are some new features and many fixes. A changelog will be available in due course. Sorry to miss you about kids.

Yeah if you are struggling to see the Hidden, your Hidden view is mulitcolured or black or you crash when you kill the Hidden, you have a DX6/7 card. Now although we are going to fix these little problems, it wont help you too much, there are basically too many people using the 'alpha-ed' DX6 Hidden look to cheat at the game.

For this reason we are probably going to make the executive decision to stop actively supporting DX6/7. What this basically means is in DX6/7 the Hiddens 'look' will be effectively invisible. We hate to do this, but it just isnt in the interest of most players to allow this form of cheating to continue so we have to make a decision to cut off the DX6/7 users.

Basically, with next gen consoles and engines just around the corner, you all need to be thinking about getting at least a DX8 card, if not a DX9 (DX10 in the near future). We apolgise for all the bods out there who are running old comps with Rad 7000 or GF2 or whatever PS 1.1 card you may have, but its WAY past time you got an upgrade, its for your own good. PC tech never stands still...

Okay guys, its nice that you are all eagerly expewcting the latest release, and I can ssure you that it is very close now, but ive now been burnt twice on dates so Im not giving you any. Basically code needs to be tweaked and niggles need to be un-niggled(real word?). We dont want to release another version thats buggy and needs patching up, we just want Beta3, not B3a or B3b two days later!

For more up to date and a more constant flow of information the offical forums are the place to be. I dont update here as often. Please bear with us...

Not quite, it shows the position of the IRIS team, regardless of their life signs. If they are alive the blips will move, if they are dead the tracking device is embedded in the radios they carry and as such can be picked up by 617 to 'fake' a live IRIS member on the radar(if he so wishes to). Orthey can be left alone on the ground, either way it leads to some clever strategies...

1) Can't You release windows version right now, and the linux one later?
We could, and in a way we are so some people can play at GDC, but its just too buggy to be rleeased publicy right now.

2) What's the difference between Assault and Support roles?
At the mo the Assault has access to all weapons, but only one sonic alarm and has limited ammunition. The supply class has limited weapon selection, more sonic alarms and will evetually (not in B3) be able to resupply the rest of the team ONCE each with ammunition. The HTML Manual will help answer questions and give a few nice pics and can be found here.

Yeah, about that....pushed back a few days boys, should be out on Saturday afternoon/evening. Basically we have to put something out for GDC, whether its completely stable or not remains to be seen. We have, as always, hit a few teething problems and are trying to desperately nip them in the bud before the weekend. Have no fear, Beta 3 is coming, just not quite yet. I've changed the date, sorry to get your hopes up...

As G ing says, its on the cards to lead up to a definitive Hidden:Source Final, leaving the heady days of Beta's behind. The spectator system will be completed for the Final release, but how long it takes to fix it depends on the coding magiks of the coder warlocks, but it will get done...

There will be a small update in the not too distant future to fix some of the more annoying little things.

If Valve give us a little assistance we should hopefully see the IRIS head cams working and have fixed Arena cams. There are a fewother little niggles that we want to fix as well so keep chekcing back for updates.

Was on the cards but proved to be to much for the coder that was doing it. I do hear that the VGUI in Source is a git to work with though. A checkbox is on its way, but if you are strugling with the shader or your GFX card just plain dont like it it can be shut off at the console with cl_hvision 0. Boxy out.

If some people dont like it they dont like it, thats life. We knew that not everyone would like the mod, thats a fact of life, you cant make something that EVERYONE will love, its just not possible.

However I will say that on the sites where we have news posts and information, most comments are positive, I rarely read a bad comment about the mod, so we must be doing something right. Some of you dont like it, thats fair enough, you have said your piece, now lets move on and not flame each other over personal tastes and opinions.
