Such a shame really, as I have the disc version on mine and my wife's PC's. I am not going to also purchase it on steam for us both. Looks like we will have to stick to the older version.
Pity Plutonium brought in steam checks and put the proverbial two finger salute to those who have legit disc versions. I used to host codwaw servers with plutonium until the steam check issue.

The waypoints don't work when packed within the iwd. If the scriptdata folder is moved to the userraw folder of IW4x then the waypoints work

One Issue I have come across is some bots end up with no weapons and they go in to knife and nothing happens as if that has gone also.

I have always had lag if I spawn 16 bots or more and the more players join the worse it gets. So I now stick to 10 bots maximum

As I said in my post above:

you don't actually need to put it in a mod folder it will work the same from the iw4x folder or even the userraw folder

Just extract the file z_svr_bots.iwd and place in one of the folders I have mentioned.
You then need to use the ingame menu to add bots or the DVAR's I have posted above in your server cfg file.

you dont need to use the menu if you are hosting a dedicated server. I found that using the dvars in the server config set up the bots how I needed them(edit to suit):

IW4x is now version 0.7.7 so your problem will be down to your version being too old. So I am not sure if a fix is available for you

You need to place the z_svr_bots.iwd file in the folder named iw4x

Cod4x provides the gsc support that Bot Warfare needs to work. So it won't be possible

This worked for me for:
"Script compile error unknown function htppget maps/mp/bots/_bot_http.gsc"

open z_svr_bots.iwd
then
maps\mp\bots\_bot.gsc
then delete or comment out the line(using//):

level thread maps\mp\bots\_bot_http::doVersionCheck();

If you use notepad++ it is about line 200

yes open the z_svr_bots.iwd file (i use 7zip) and edit the bots.txt file
