There is a much better working fix out there:

Gog.com

Deinstall my fix by deleting 'ddraw.dll', 'aqrit.cfg' and the folder '#DXWnd' from Robin Hood Install Dir.

*Download and extract all files from dgVoodoo2 to the game folder "Robin Hood".
*Copy&Paste; all dll files from "MS" into the main game folder "Robin Hood".
Make sure that everything from dgVoodoo is in the right folder:
"\SteamApps\common\Robin Hood\dgVoodooCpl.exe"
"\SteamApps\common\Robin Hood\DDraw.dll"
...

Run dgVoodooCpl.exe and under DirectX enable 'Fast video memory access'.
And you are good to go^^

Sometimes the game gets stuck in the loading screen. You have to kill it in taskmanager and start again.

Good luck^^

it should definitely be possible to run it without lag using DXWnd and ddwrapper.
Sadly at the moment I do not have time to code a launcher but please search goolge for "desperados DXWnd" so you can fix it yourself by installing and configuring those programs.

Good luck^^

Virustotal.com

Recently many anti virus softwares mark this file as a virus.
It started with panda alone and years later symantec norton, mcafee and some others also detect a false positive.

I can only ensure you that this file is a false positive!

I created this file with with the script engine nsis long ago.
It moves files from a game mod to the main folder of the game (StarWarsEmpireAtWar). It listens and waits for the game to start and end. When the game ends the modfiles are restored to their last known location.
The nsis file uses nsProcess.nsh with nsProcess::FindProcess and nsProcess::Unload each time it listens if the game is still running.

It will read and write to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\LucasArts in order to ensure the game has correctly installated location paths.

It has a bunch of other features but none that I can think of now which will produce false positives.

In short:
- it deletes & pastes & renames files inside the game folder "Star Wars Empire at War" and the "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp" folder only.
- it listens to swfoc.exe and/or sweaw.exe processes and waits for them to finish.
- it reads and writes to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\LucasArts to ensure correct game path variables
- it will call the included EAWModLauncherGetAdminRights.exe if this program needs admin rights to write to temp, gamefolder or game registry.

I hope this helps to identify this as false positive.
If you need more Information please contact me.

If your anti virus program shows a virus please send your anti vir company this file with a false positive report. You may give them my email address berthunterapps@gmail.com for further information.
I would greatly appreciate it!

Best regards,
BertHunter

Sadly, Empire at War does not support spaces in modnames^^
For example: Imperial_Civil_War can not be named to "Imperial Civil War"...

wow, never thought this error would ever happen... your computer must restrict this program in some way.
Please try to run this launcher as administrator or try to run the retail game without securom protection(*using something so you do not need any cd/dvd in your drive) read the info page of my launcher and click on useful parameters. --> -Securom="false" should do the trick if everyting else fails.

May I ask you which game version you are playing? Retail, Steam or GOG? If it is retail could you upload your swfoc.exe to onedrive or something like that and send it to me to analyse?

Played steiners and battelfront commander myself with this launcher^^

Did you install everything correctly?
For Steiner your modfile structure should look something like:
"\Star Wars Empire at War\GameData\Mods\Sau3.3\Data\XML\manyXmlFilesInsideThisFolder..."
Battlefront is a foc mod and should look like something like this:
"\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods\Star_Wars_Battlefront\Data\XML\manyXmlFilesInsideThisFolder..."

If you installed everything correctly and can not play the mods please comment again.
Good luck^^

can you click on the little buttons on the middle left called "Eaw" "FoC"?
If you can not select one of them and do not have the "OPEN Mod folder" button, your game is not installed correctly. Please reinstall the FoC game. Alternativly you can rename the Forces of corruption main game folder to "corruption" and cut&paste; it inside the Star Wars Empire at War main game folder. Afterwards your folder structure should look somethinglike that: "\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\swfoc.exe".
Now move my launcher inside "\Star Wars Empire at War" and start it as administrator. It should ask you if it should fix your installation and edit registry values.

Steam takes too long to start the game: My launcher automatically closed itself.
You can enter the following code to a shortcut of this launcher to make it wait for steam a while longer:
-SteamWait="300"
The above will wait for 5 minutes Or use -SteamWait="600" to wait for 10 minutes. 999 is max.
Check the info page of my launcher for more information.

If steam never starts Empire at War, try starting it without this launcher and see if that works. If not, feel free to come back here and make another comment^^ Good luck!

I can only assure you that this launcher is not a virus.
^^see post above for details^^

visit virustotal.com, currently it is detected as a false positive by 9/61 programs including Symantec, McAffe and Panda...
I cannot send it to mcaffe or panda since i do not have those programs installed but I send it to symantec. Maybe they will update their scanner program for this false positive or not. They did not respond yet to me.

other than that I can not think of anything to do with false positives which a virus scanner would detect.

You have to install Empire at War and start it ONCE before using this launcher. Otherwise your computer will have no entry of the installation path of empire at war^^

just tried it with 1.04.5 installed over 1.0 and it worked instantly.
I guess the mod is not installed correctly. The folder structure should look like this: "\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods\Star_Wars_Battlefront\Data\Xml\ many xml files"

Works with every correctly installed mod.

Some mods copy files outside the game's mod directory and mess up other mods this way. Best way to install a mod is copy&paste;. This is a working example for Republic at war: "\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods\Republic_At_War\Data\Acclamator.txt")

BertHunter - - 37 comments @ Star Wars: Empire at War - ModLauncher

just select the mod you want to play from the EAW/FOC list and hit the 'PLAY Mod' button.
If the mod was installed correctly it will launch. (common mistakes are copy&pasting; the Data folder of the mod inside a existing Data folder or pasting it directly inside the Mods directory. This is a working example for Republic at war: "\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods\Republic_At_War\Data\Acclamator.txt")

It's a false positive from panda alone^^ (see comments above)
Either mark the exe file as an execption, dont use the launcher or get rid of panda and install any other antivirus program :-)

It seems your installed EaW is not up to date. Please install Patch 1.5 for Empire at War or/and Patch 1.1 for Forces of Corroption. After that try executing my launcher with admin rights. If it still does not work GAMECONSTANTS.XML and maybe more files are proably marked as READ ONLY on your computer --> you will have to unmark these files with a right click on the games main folder and selecting properties...

If you still have the problem I will need the number of the ERROR message and potentially the name/download link to the mod you are using in order to help you.

Make sure you have the mod of your choice selected and hit PLAY Mod.

If it does not launch the mod, it is most likley the mod itself wasn't isntalled correctly. Make sure the folder structure looks something like this ---> "\Star Wars Empire at War\GameData\Mods\NameOfYourMod\Data\XML\ many xml files"

The mod you are trying to start has at least one badly coded xml file.
You can try to fix it yourself if you know where and what to fix or wait for the mod devs to develope a patch^^

hmm, it does work fine for me and I never updated it since it was released on moddb. Does it still not run on your machine? Did you install a mod recently or updated your video cards drivers?

I can only assure you that it does no harm to your PC.

Some overprotective AntiVirusPrograms mark it as harmful because of it's Data_main feature: My program listens to the steam.exe and the foc.exe and waits for them to be launched or closed. Before the game launches, my program will copy&paste; everything inside Data_main to the game's main folder and will copy&paste; the moved files back to Data_main when the game closes; ensuring absolute mod compatiblity.
