I don't know who made this, but it's amazing.
that outside castle wall doesnt seem to make much sense...
It does , because the castle is huge , i bet the wall is at least few meters tall and it keeps away enemies and even wild animals at a good enough distance from the castle
In a defense situation , the wall around it would need to fall before the enemy could march , or better said climb the elevations to the castle to attack it further on
Think of it like the parable of the man that build his house on top of a hill ElfFriend
I would certainly build my castle like this too
And the second reason i can give is : What a view you'd be having from up there : O
