Avert Studios, founded in July 2013, is a newly created small independant developer company which aims to create enjoyable iOS and Android small-device games. We plan to keep developing games and releasing them strictly for these platforms. Based in Brisbane, Australia, our small studio plans to grow and develop more great games in the near future. Brisbane is quickly becoming a hub for Australian independant developers and we need all the support that we can get, so make sure to support Avert Studios and all upcoming Brisbane developers!

Website Revamp!

Avert Blog

Hi Hi!

So, we have been busy at work on a total overhaul of the Avert Studios website - just one of the many improvements Avert will have in 2015! As much as we loved the old webpage we felt that, after two years of loyal and reliable service, it was time to retire it.

Our new website will be much more accessible, with blogs, videos, games and twitter all easily available to find from the main page. As well as revamping the utility and facilities of Avert Studios website, we have also designed a more appealing layout! The plan is to have the full website up and running in the next few days - and then you know we will be running it by you guys to see if you like it!

Our new app is still in the works and is looking forward to release by the end of this month - before uni starts and we lose our programmer, Liam Kelly, for six days a week to assignments and studying. Avert Studios is still planning on producing games all year, so don't worry - things might just take a little longer than usual.

If you guys haven't already, you should check out our awesome music composer Nature Ganganbaigal. He does lots of really cool tracks, and although Avert has been a bit quiet on the game front, he has done lots of other work that is definitely worth listening to!

I wouldn't look past checking out our artist Liam Harris either, he has been busy entertaining himself over the holidays by flooding tumblr with super cool gifs, so go be entertained!

I will leave you with those two, as I really don't have anything productive to show for these holidays!

Don't forget to give Avert Studios a little like on our Facebook, check out our Twitter and subscribe to our YouTube channel for some interesting stuff.

Play Time Is Over

Avert Blog

Hello World Wide Web Dwellers!

Needless to say Avert Studios has been pretty quiet the last few weeks, as far as our web presence and game development goes. It's been a nice little hiatus dropping off the web like that, however I promise that we are done with our little break!

During Avert's mini disappearance, our programmer Liam Kelly has been working on a different sort of project for Avert Studios. We have set up a flourishing community for our games - and we definitely won't be stopping game production - but we are within the last few weeks of development for an app. We are hoping to gain more exposure with this app, to cover a wider audience than our games are currently reaching. I can't give away too much about this app! But it's going to be awesome!

To say thank you for your patience and ease everyone out of the holiday mind set and kick the new year into gear we are giving all Radial Champions players free tokens for the week! This promotion will end next week on Wednesday night, so download it now on Android and iOS if you haven't already and kick start your character!

We have also officially removed Claw's the Christmas dragon from Greedy Dragon - so sorry to everyone who missed out on the chance to purchase this limited time dragon! Keep an eye out on Greedy Dragon for our future holiday themed dragons.

Avert Studios is still as keen as ever for any tips for improvement on any of our games, so if you have an idea you think will improve any of our games then feel free to contact us - we check our emails, Facebook, IndieDB, Twitter and YouTube all frequently, even during a break or quiet period (who doesn't live on the internet, be honest!)

Don't forget to give us a little like on our Facebook page for support and to keep updated with our exciting game developments!

Happy Holidays

Holiday Greetings!

Avert Studios is hoping everyone has had a fantastic Christmas and New Year! Here's to 2015 and all the exciting stuff to come! With all of the relaxing holidays and spending time with friends and family it's been hard to keep up with game development these holidays - but worry not! Avert Studios has managed.

Due to Apple closing down it's submission acceptance process a week after we submitted our last games for 2014, these games and updates were heavily delayed. So to make up for this we have decided to extend our Christmas Greedy Dragon special for two more weeks!

Download Greedy Dragon now on your Android and iOS devices now! Don't miss out on our limited time Christmas dragon Claws, and enjoy our discounted dragon and token purchases!

Avert Studios is also happy to announce Ghost Room is now available on iOS! Ghost Room was made for the Indies VS PewDiePie 72Hr Game Jam. Get this quirky game now and run for your life from spiders, ghosts and zombies - don't forget to blow them up as you flee in terror!

Berry Buddies is now out on iOS as well! You can play this fun multiplayer game with up to four people. Get it now on Anrdoid and iOS - it's sure to bring family and friends closer together, with lots of giggles and fun to share! Perfect for bonding and sure to keep everyone entertained for hours. It is suitable for all sized devices - the smaller the device, the more fun to be had. Challenge your friends and family and see who has the fastest fingers!

With 2014 gone, Avert Studios looks forward to 2015 - with lots more games and fun to be made, we are striving toward an exciting and fulfilling new year! Keep a look out for our new ideas!

Don't forget to give us a little like on our Facebook page for support. And to tide you over, check out our YouTube channel and Twitter feed for lots of goodies!

Good Morning, and Evening - for peeps on the other side of the world!

I blinked and it is now 5am! How time flies when you are hard at work on a game update! The good news is the background for Greedy Dragon have been completely revamped! It's a cleaner look, and hopefully everyone will enjoy the updated background just as much as they enjoy playing now!

Greedy Dragon currently has over 1,000 players, and we are hoping that everyone will enjoy the new treats and goodies we have included in our update!

As well as revamping the Greedy Dragon backgrounds, we will also be polishing out a few minor bugs and launching a discount on all purchasable dragons! We, at Avert Studios, are feeling the Holiday Spirit! As well as discounting all our dragons, we will also be increasing the tokens earned per round!

I have also released a Christmas dragon, available exclusively for the month of December, with some extra little surprises! This is not an update you will want to miss. Follow us on Facebook - or download Greedy Dragon on iOS and Android to join in the fun.

We have also been hard at work creating a whole game dedicated to the Holiday Season and bringing families and friends together. We are a little delayed on release, however we are estimating to have the game released in the next week - with plenty of time to get practice in for versing your siblings!

Keep updated on our game devs on Avert's Facebook page - show us some support and give us a little like! To see more about our projects and game development, check out our Twitter and our YouTube channel.

Indies VS PewDiePie

Avert Blog

Hello Browser's and Web Lurker's!

After much consideration, Avert has decided to get the team together for another game jam! This time we're attempting to tackle the Indies VS PewDiePie 72 hour challenge! It's a little different from the styles of game jams we've come to know - gathering as a community in one spot and jamming it out, not knowing the theme until the very second the clock starts. Instead, Indies VS PewDiePie is focusing on the broad theme of 'Fun to play, fun to watch'. The games are played and voted for by everyone who is wired in. The top ten voted games will all be played on PewDiePie's channel, which is a great opportunity for game developers everywhere!

Avert is excited to participate, not only to takle another challenge and become stronger as a team, but also for the chance to have a game played by PewDiePie on his YouTube channel! Even if our game isn't voted to the top ten, it will be a good learning experience for everyone, and we will have another quality app available for download on iOS and Android!

Like in our previous game jams, Avert will be creating a facebook page for the game and updating it as we progress. We are also planning on recording some more interesting footage for our YouTube channel! If anyone is interested to watch our game progress over the 72 hour challenge, give us a little like at Avert and subscribe to our YouTube channel!

We will be posting on the Avert facebook page with links to our 72Hr game page when it's up, so keep a keen eye out! We will also be tweeting on our Twitter account pretty frequently throughout the jam to keep our followers in the loop - so drop by!

Berry Buddies!

Avert Blog

Hi hi Internet!

Avert has just posted our awesome video to YouTube!

Be sure to check it out! Me and my partner, Liam, both recorded our screens during the processes that we, as Indie Game Developers, go through to create a game. We both put our recordings together, and sped the video up, managing to compress eight and a half hours of work into a measly EIGHT MINUTES!

The game we are working on here is Berry Buddies, a new and upcoming iOS and Android game, which is multiplayer - we have optimised this game to be best played by four people! We just have a few little things to do to it that we couldn't record - involving Apple ID's and passwords, so the game won't be out for a couple of weeks.

But don't worry, you can keep track of the release on our Facebook page - so drop by and give us a little like!

We are really appreciate all of the support and feedback we have been receiving lately! It's good to see people are enjoying our games, and our social media. And also good to hear things we need to improve on.

For everyone who are still downloading and enjoying Greedy Dragon - hang in there, we are in the middle of the updates, and they will be submitted soon! Some improvements to the background, and some Christmas inspired price knockdowns will be in the store and on your devices shortly!

Remember to keep a look out on our Facebook, Twitter and YouTube so you don't miss out on the next little bundle of goodies we at Avert are cooking up for you!

Working on a New Game!

Avert Blog

Greetings peoples of the internets!

Finally! Avert has released our big game, Radial Champions! After twelve months working on this new mobile game it feels like a huge weight has been lifted - and all we're left with is time! Hours and hours, and days and days of time!

But this isn't a bad thing! All of the ideas we've had, and even planned out, have been piling up over the past few months - and now we finally have all this time! In fact, we are already underway, and one of our ideas has very much come into fruition over the past few days. The Facebook page is pretty skeletal at the moment, but for those of you that are interested, HERE you are.

The game will be multiplayer for up to four people, with the singleplayer option for those who enjoy quick games to pass the time. It's only half done and I am hooked, so I can't wait till we're finished to share this with everyone! The game will be heaps of fun, and we should have it released on Android at the end of the week, and iOS in the next two weeks - hit the like button on Facebook if you want in on this fun little game ;)

As well as getting another idea off and out of the notebook and onto your screen, we have also been in production of some new and exciting YouTube footage for our channel! I am planning to do more on Avert's YouTube in the upcoming months to create a more personal connection with the community. There will be more speed art, and glimpses into the processes that we go through to get our games to you!

To keep in touch and up to date with the new and exciting goodies we, at Avert, have planned for you, give us a little like on our Facebook page - and if you're interested in our YouTube goodies, don't forget to subscribe to our channel!

Good evening IndieDB!

Avert has finally released Radial Champions! It is currently available to download on Android, and awaiting acceptance into the iOS Apple Store. It has been up and available to download for a few days now, and we have been keen as mustard to start sharing it. We have unfortunately been a little held up, as we posted the game's profile on our IndieDB account while it was still in development; they require a few more screenshots than normal, which we have amended. Hopefully the game profile will be accepted and viewable to the public shortly!

For now, here is a short blurb to get you excited! For those of you a little more interested, you can check out Google Play on your PC (or download it on your Android!):

In other exciting news, we finally have something of a uniform!

Avert - Fun and Free mobile games!

For future game making challenges, and other Indie Development events in Brisbane, we will be strutting around in our new shirts! You might even catch us around the Brisbane area wearing them on off days, so for all you Aussie's in the Brisbane area - keep a keen eye out!

And of course, to keep up to date with Avert Studios and our new upcoming games and goodies - or to show us some much needed love and support, give us a little like on our Facebook page!

A big hello to everyone this fine evening!

We have just returned home from attending the QUT third years Bachelor of Games and Interactive Entertainment showcase, where the teams of students present their final products to the public. This was the biggest accomplishment over the course for most of the students, as all of the games have been published and are available to download.

For Avert our programmer, Liam Kelly, was presenting his game with his uni team - which is Pipe Runners. He worked with a team seven, including three 3D modellers, a concept artist, a sound tech and two programmers. The game is for PC and is published under the teams company FishTank Games. The team won't be making any further games under that company, but we, at Avert, are hoping to collaborate with some of the individuals in the future to produce some awesome and more diverse mobile games!

We got a chance to meet up with some fellow IndieDBers, and perhaps have a chance to work with them as well in the future! Unfortunately, the gig is up, and my stalking tendencies have been revealed! I'm not so good with the fluffly talk, so when I say meeting it was probably more like "Hey, been stalking your game on IndieDB, nice new curtains blocking the view into your living room".

It was nice to meet students and play the many games on display tonight - Symphony Quest won the most innovative gameplay, and has some amazing artwork - plus, at their display they had cupcakes with treble clef's on them! A very interesting concept, a big recommend to downloading and trying that one out! I would also recommend having a peek at 2199: NEW WORLD ORDER - very cool artwork and gameplay too, we gave them advice to get this one out on mobile, so hopefully that comes into fruition. If not, PC works for it too!

I unfortunately don't at all recall the game that won the most commercially viable award, so I will link you again to Pipe Runners! Go and enjoy Avert's talented programmer.

We are very much looking forward to next year's student presentations, where our artist, Liam Harris, will also be presenting a game with a team for his last year at university.

Another wonderful night meeting industry people and enjoying the local Brisbane talent!

Hello world!

As some of you may already know, and for those of you who don't, one of Avert's games has recently reached 1,000 downloads on iOS and Android! That's Greedy Dragon, for the individuals who are dropping by for the first time. It's a very big achievment for an indie company just starting to make it's mark on the world.

In appreciation for the community I have been hard at work drawing a nice big, pixel packed wallpaper as a big thankyou to everyone who has downloaded and enjoyed Greedy Dragon! I really wanted to draw Pakshin; an unlockable dragon with a talent for flying fast, as he has two sets of wings. I started drawing him, and unfortunately it didn't initially occur to me that he is blue, not unlike Aeron - the main character of Greedy Dragon. In retrospect it might've been a nice idea to have drawn a red dragon, like Ryba!

Check out the YouTube video of the speed drawing for this background and give it a little like for some support! I've been experiencing a lot of firsts lately and this is also on the list - it's the first time I've reorded myself drawing. I'm hoping to do it again in the future, maybe a recording of all game assets for an upcoming Avert game ;) Subscribe to our YouTube channel if you're interested in seeing this happen, and don't miss out on our other little upcoming goodies!

We have been planning some major updates to Greedy Dragon in light of it's popularity. We will be balancing out the dragon prices and tokens gained per round, though we are planning this as a promotional short term event - so if you haven't already, download the game on your mobiles and devices so you don't miss out on this massive deal! We are also looking into making the game a little faster paced, as recently suggested by a player :)

I am also planning some visual updates to the parallaxing backgrounds - with my growing experience in the industry, I find it hard to look back at my first game and not see so much room for improvment!

In the future, to celebrate further success with Greedy Dragon, I will be offering to draw another background for all you Greedy Dragons out there! Keep up to date on the Facebook page, as I will be putting the next dragon to be drawn up to popular vote. Don't miss out on the chance to have a say in the next wallpaper!
