I don't think he meant the pentagram as a religious symbol itself. It does have a religious meaning as you said, and it's widely known for its use in satanist religions. The pentagram itself, the one image used over and over in this mod (In news image and in the image gallery) belongs to Doom 3 and contains Doom symbols which kind of makes it "exclusive" just to say. It's widely used in the game. That's what I think he was trying to say. Yeah of course no one's gonna have copyright trouble over a single image. As a Doom player myself I can tell you that.
