I'm a bit bureaucratic when it comes to coordinating projects, and I can tell it sometimes drives people around me nuts. However, considering that no one has asked me to step down, ever, I do believe that people have a silent respect for my methods. I put a lot of effort in trying to foresee and head off problems before they occur, which is another thing that irks many. Again, however, considering that many have complemented on how well things tend to flow while I am coordinating efforts, I still believe I'm doing it right. As for myself outside of management, I'm actually quite reserved. I like to listen before I speak, although once I'm settled I can be a bit noisy. I love games which require a lot of thought, but I don't like it when the feel of progress stops. I'll read walkthroughs if I can't solve puzzles quickly enough, and I'll drop the game all together if I don't keep my mind active.

It's a subversion client that automatically acquires the latest from our developer repository. Be sure to re-run it every day or two.

Yeah I understand, I'm a nice person face to face, but if you give me a job, at that point I'd prefer to just get it done, and get it done right... standing there taking 5 minutes to say pleasantries instead of just saying "on it, give me this, this, and that" is a waste of time :).

Once it's done, I'd be happy to be pleasant again.

We were one of the first addons, if not THE first, to use subversion. The other addons got the idea from us. We've been doing it for years.

@Awesome_ninja: As for SVN being complicated: it's only that way on setup. After that it's even easier than downloading and extracting.

We are all volunteers. Many of us are on the "hacker" scene in one way or another. We don't play with human niceties, we prefer to just get the job done. We don't spoon feed people. If someone doesn't want to do a little homework, that's too bad.

But we do try to place nice with the people who at least try.

Simple, we don't want people submitting support tickets for things we have already solved. Also, wire is constantly updated. With how often updates are pushed, this would mean we would be releasing versions much more rapidly than 99% of the other projects on ModDB.

Lastly, you say we could make it simpler for you to just download a zip, we say you could learn to live with a small learning curve to understand the convenience of SVN. "Teaching a man to fish" comes to mind.

Probably because that makes it incompatible with other mods. This method allows other mods to use his updated effects which use the vanilla versions. Read the docs that come with the mod, that should have clued you in.
