Ahead of its time. Even ten years later few games of its genre compare. Still haven't seen another game with a mechanic like the house.

Half-life echos is a great mod and I can't even accurately describe how much I enjoyed this. Everything just fits perfectly, it works so perfectly that if this was made as a half life 2 mod like black mesa something would be missing from it.
The game play remains enjoyable throughout the entire thing.
The story doesn't feel out of place.
The levels are made well and you can see how quickly the black mesa incident went to **** just by seeing how the props in the same area you go through multiple times change and everything remains interesting throughout the entire thing.
The only negative things I have to say about it are
1. The higher quality g-man quality seems a little off with the half-life 1 "break characters jaws" speaking animations.
2. There is this enemy you seem throughout the game (not the giant blue guy that actually has a pretty neat outcome) and when it finally attacks you are behind glass and instead fight a bunch of ninjas, and then the monster dies off screen and you don't get to fight it, or at least if you do get to fight it you don't need to fight it to complete the game and I just missed it.
