Blacksector Mod Backstory Remix Thread - Writer's Club

I'd all but forgotten about "Blacksector: Project H.O.R.I.Z.O.N", the cool sci-fi mod being developed by BLACKSECTOR Dev Team

If there's anyone here who hasn't yet heard of this mod, I definitely recommend tracking it. Here's my take on their backstory, I hope you like it:

The Story:

This entry is taken from a single tattered, blood-spattered page of a diary, written by an unknown soldier of the U.A.G. It was found crumpled in his severed fist at the Battle of Geo-Dominaetria, next to his shattered body. The page was found by remaining members of his Assault Unit and it now resides in the Central War Archives at U.A.G. The fist itself was cast into solid iron, and copies now adorn all U.A.S.C combat vehicles.

"[..] it all looked so simple. We'd originally planned to claim Outer Space for ourselves - the aggressive joy of unrestrained use of every technical resource and skill we had as a species, resulting in infinite room for humanity to grow. The first few centuries of our expansion were full of wonderment and awe at our own bright-edged cleverness, a glorious age of limitless scientific expansion and freedom - at least, that's what we repeatedly told ourselves.

Merely by thinking, simply by applying our restless monkey minds to the transformation of matter, it seemed we could go anywhere we wanted, accomplish anything we set our hearts to - be anything and everything we could - and more, and forevermore.

But destiny doesn't take simple human intelligence into account as it rolls the cosmic dice, and suddenly the rare green spark of life which once animated every direction we took as a species is now on the verge of total destruction.

For today it is our planet that is ready to be conquered. Today, it is we who are humble and afraid. It is we who cower in the darkness of our own self-compromised imagination, terrified at what the future holds. Almost hoping for death. The single most important factor in our ongoing demise was our false pride in our own seeming invulnerability - our limitless arrogance in assuming this universe belonged to us alone.

Planet Earth is in a state of total emergency and it's unknown if either of us will survive.

The world - as we once thought we knew it - has all but been completely destroyed. Humanity has withered to a few million survivors. Nobody knows from which part of the universe "The Wraith" came from - or even from which dimension. As a species they are deadly and furious fighters. Their attacks are relentless and come without warning. They are armed with incredible alien weaponry and the "Black Sectors" - areas entirely controlled by The Wraith - have spread everywhere, a terrible stain of rot which refuses to die, like the stinking rot seen on the billions of corpses littering the endless battlefield of this vast, ruined rock of dispair..

They are here for a single purpose: to wipe out us for good and claim Planet Earth for their own. But no more.

It is now the new morning of January 31st, 2035. Once we hid underground and in between the crumbling walls of our old world, but now the moment has come for us to strike back against our oppressors - and when we strike, our blow will land with such power and focused determination the very Earth itself will shake with fear - and The Wraith will truly understand what it means to be an unwelcome visitor on this once beautiful planet. For we will defend this natural homeworld, this fragile blue ark of life - and we will fight to the last human being and to our last dying breath!

I know I will not survive this war to see My People rebuild their world. I do not know if humanity will survive the long night of our terminal struggle against our ruthless enemy. I can only hope that my actions on these useless killing fields of horror and madness count for something - that my young life here among the decayed ruins of this future Earth will, in the last analysis prove to be not only Meaningful - but also Good."

BlackSector: Synopsis

The United Alliance Government is the single largest planetary governmental organization ever formed. Comprised of hundreds of members from the USA II, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, France, Spain, China, Japan and Russia, their single mission is to win the war against The Wraith.

The Wraith currently dominate 85% of world's surface. Meanwhile the biggest remaining megacities - London, New York, Tokyo etc. - are entirely cut off from the outside environment and exist in an enclave of desperation, crumbling strongholds in uncertain times.

In a daring military strategy that's fast being called "Humanity's Tet Offensive", the U.A.G have decided to send their entire remaining legions of United Alliance Special Corps deep into the central conflict areas to reclaim long lost human habitations.

Play either as a soldier of the UASC in several classes like Heavy Gunner, Warrior, Light Infantry or Sniper - or take control of the mysterious and powerful Wraith. Battle world-wide in the infested Black Sectors for global dominance using unique tactics & advanced technologies to fight your enemies, and even track the progress of the Global War in realtime, second by second over multiple servers.
