Hello folks,

I just started making maps for WiC and it is impressive how there is almost no documentation to learn deeply about it. I've read the "Help" from WiC Editor and ModKit, but it is just too simple and basic, also there are gaps which I don't seem to overcome simply by trial and error.

My current project is to create maps based on my surroundings, i.e., based on real places. That means that I have to reproduce 3D modeling of the buildings and etc, and I have that capability, even though I didn't try to do the process of importing the 3d modeling. I have some questions that would be of great help if someone could answer.

Map questions:

-There is any good tutorial of heightmaps? I'm trying to use real maps height info and put it on greyscale, but the results are far from expected, probably instead I'll have to create it from scratch based, however, on the real map... but I don't know how to properly do it. Any help on this?

-I've seen the possibility of importing heightmaps, but can I import terrain texture? I would like to use a real map as terrain textura in the first moment, so I can place the objects according to the real map. How can I do it inside

Modeling

-How do I add a roundabout intersection (like this: Ashep.yolasite.com ), I mean, not the 3d modeling, but the process inside Showbox and JuiceMaker.

-There is good material on building modeling and import to WiC? The one from "Help" is just too plain and of little help.

Thanks in advance,

I'm really excited to start this project, but I can't without these answers.

Unfortunately I have never used a real data heightmap file, All the heightmaps I have done have been done by hand using a photoshop 512 x 512 greyscale image. So I can't really give you much advise. In theory any greyscale 512 x 512 image should do, then you would need 8 more for the maps outskirts, the unplayable area. What kind of results are getting? Are you sure your image looks like something like this:?

Black is the Lower height, and White is the máximum height, I remember you had options when importing the heightmap file for minimum and máximum height, but that was ages ago, so maybe it is not like that.

When it comes to custom stuff such as buildings and custom roads I have never done it, but I remember there were tutorials in the massgate forums, I remember you could add them with the mod tools and then you were able to use them in the map editor, however the addition of buildings is nothing sort of an easy task Since it requires a lot of config and different models and textures depending on the damage state. Plus making infantry to entrench inside them. I may suggest you to use vanilla stuff.

For the intersection, I think you can actually change the textures, cannot remember much about it though. But there are a lot of vanilla textures you can use. And you can add new custom ones. But as I said before this was long ago and I can't remember much now.
