The Emperor Protects.
I wonder, what other race uses barbed wire? Eldar? Nope. Orcs? Nope. Necrons? Hell no! Knowing what "great" training the guardsmen get he probably died from a "friendly barbed wire". xD
Probably renegade guardsmen...
