Well, pre-production is getting underway at the Dance of the Dragons modding station, so I thought it would be beneficial to post some reference points...
George R. R. Martin's epic tales of A Song of Ice and Fire have swept across the world, making all four of his books in the New York Times Best Sellers Top 10 years after they were released due to the HBO hit adaptation of his first book, A Game of Thrones.
This mod, for the upcoming The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, hopes to take a new look at one of the old wars of Westeros and try to make story where one is not entirely certain. The Dance of the Dragons war decided succession of the Targaryen line from there forward, and brought great strife throughout the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.
Here at the Dance of the Dragons mod station, we want to take a close look at the world that George R. R. Martin has created and try to make an exciting game with Bethesda's news Creation Engine used for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. We hope to include dense dialogue trees with choices to be had, a very realistically based combat system, more powerful and random dragons, at least five major cities from the world of Westeros, a chance to view both sides of the conflict, NPCs with very involving histories and characters, full voice acting, and the patented exploration of Bethesda games.
Thus far we are in the planning stages of the project, with trancemaster_1988 of Morrowind Rebirth fame helping with world design in exteriors and GoodGuyA working as the project lead and story consultant. The game is still quite a few months off, and we here are hotly anticipating both the game and playing around with the toolset, but there's no better time than the present to start planning!
We're in need of people who love to work on these sorts of games with depth and realism, for this is a passion project by people who deeply respect the mythos that George R. R. Martin has created. As such, we want to stick as close to the epic tone as the novels as possible and deliver a great experience of someone acting within that world. Just leave me a PM and I'll see if you would make a good addition to the team. Leave a good first impression, as we say!
