I would have preferred the Empire Reborn over the first order in the new movies, honestly if they wanted dark side bad guys they should have used the Reborn.
Indeed. They should have based the film on the EU instead of making it completely different and thus requiring a lot of lore to be rewritten while the old lore ended up getting scrapped.
