Hi and welcome to our 2nd special mod report, I must apologize for the delay in the write up of this mod as myself and my research team have been busy with our lives for once, but we are back and ready to look at all star trek things again.
we are looking at a star trek mod for sins of a solar empire, the mod is called Star Trek Armanda 3 and is a total conversion for sins of a solar empire into the star trek universe, the current version is 1.0 but it has a hotfix as well because it had a slight bug, which anybody who has played this mod would of know about which was to do with the damn Romulans.
This mod is amazing, the quality of the standard of work in the making of this mod rivals that of a professional game making company. The team behind this mod led by a gentleman called max have produced what we believe to be a worthy successor to the early star trek Armanda games. considering the team do this because they are fans is truly amazing and also the fact they do it in their free time is even more amazing ( yes we like the word amazing! :) ) We as a group like many others have probably logged more time playing this mod along with the other mod for SOASE than the vanilla version.
In the mod their are currently only four playable factions:
Each of this factions have been completely outfitted with their own unique designs and ships based on the star trek universe and the work that has been done is fantastic is a true joy to watch and play with the factions. however we did find their was no Dominion faction which was odd but we have good news for those who want them ( especially myself) they are coming in an expansion pack of the mod called "call to arms" which brings 2 sub factions which are the Dominion and a Pure Cardassian faction. from what we have seen they are coming along nicely and e look forward to seeing them in the battlefield.
Now we have had some queries about some "problems" with this mod such as the borg being OP or the Klingon titan issue. Now of our experience with this mod these are more of a opinion rather than a problem we as a group prefer the borg OP because they are the Borg and in the Universe they are OP, however we can say that the developers of the mod have revamped the borg especially when playing as them, we hope to do a more detailed report on the borg at a later time. the Klingon titan was a suicide bomb in the first two Armanda games and so really it is fitting it is the same here in this mod, but their are rumors about a new titan for the Klingons in the upcoming expansion but it is still to be confirmed.
we have also seen a lot of questions and been asked a lot of questions about certain ships being brought into the mod and our opinions on the modders decision to say no to some of the requests, all we can say is this we are not getting involved with it, they are the decision makers and its their mod, personally I'm totally with the modding team on their decision regarding all the requests made, we love the mod and we don't want to see a fantastic mod to be ruined for the sake of a few ships.
The mod itself is amazing and is worth going over your internet allowance (if you have one) to play this mod it is really easy to install as it comes with its own installer and is a real pleasure to play this mod. he expansion which again we will do a mod report on when it is released, looks to really change the mod for the better, features such as revamped races, a whole new faction/factions, new random events.
overall we totally love the mod and we look forward to its future and the many hours we as a team will waste of our lives playing it.
