Ah yes. The Illuminati.

The secret world order that controls all of Earth's governments and singlehandedly keeps the Pez industry afloat.

Pez are still in business yet the Twinky is extinct. Must be the Illuminati.

You know, if there actually were an efficiently-functioning, united hidden organization which secretly held absolute power over all governments on the planet and singlehandedly steered the fate of mankind, Earth would probably be running a lot smoother and we'd likely be a lot more advanced than we are now xD

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some form of underground unity and cohesion between the ultra-elite of modern society. Still, even if that was the case, I really find it hard to agree wth those who by defauly simply blame all their problems on the Illuminati.

Perhaps- it would be almost pathetic if the elite in society never figured that they could increase their power by joining forces. However, no matter which rung of society humans are in, they always exhibit similar antagonistic traits and an inherent selfishness. Any such union of ultra-elite would likely be doomed to the same divides as the rest of humanity experiences, and ultimately be rather ineffective. Not to mention that the ultra-elite, or at least the ultra-rich, ARE quite heavily taxed in many parts of the world, not to mention the restraints on capitalism, neither of which I imagine would've sat well with them if they were a formidable power.

That depends. So long as all the members a group maintains the similar, if not the same ideals, it can be run quite efficiently. If it remains relatively small, and everyone within the group shares the same ideals and is working towards a larger agenda, many of the problems regarding efficiency and maintenance can be largely negated.

Secondly, we've all seen how easily it is to be sheltered from rigorous taxation; one can simply look to modern corporations as the perfect demonstration of this double standard. If such a group truly does exist, I am quite certain that they would have found some way to avoid the heavy taxation those directly below them on the social ladder have to deal with.

If it were that small, it could indeed stay that stable- however, if it were that small, could it really possess such a great deal of power? Perhaps if it operated in a vast bureaucracy of elite and super-elite that traveled down a pyramid of authority, but nonetheless such a system would require an immense quantity of planning and forethought.

While the rich have managed to avoid a great deal of taxation and individual corporations can establish tax loopholes, the levels at which they escape taxes don't seem to show telltale signs of a vast super-elite organization. Then again, if they were smart enough they could just be balancing to make sure their presence was unknown.

If such an organization did exist with a truly global power, it would have to be brilliantly designed and immensely well-hidden. I am dubious that mankind could have engineered so immense and powerful a secret society, however it is possible- and perhaps more disturbingly, it is very well possible in the future.

I consider the Illuminati rather as a force for good than evil and the Freemasonry were a great inspiration for free thinkers if not even more.

Unlike the Freemasons, the Illuminati has yet to be recognized for any societal or economic contribution besides sitting on their lazy ***** whilst sipping tea.

Or more appropriately, wine.

Exactly. So I can only imagine what Medusa thinks they're good for considering they do nothing.

Shame they don't exist though because sitting around a fire-place drinking the finest wine and dining exquisitely is my kind of thing. I'd get to grow a mustache I can twirl and say "riveting tale chap" to my countryman recounting one of his many stories as I hold my wine nobly in one hand while smoking a cigar in the other sitting cross-legged in my comfy chair.

Oh and then when the world finally discovers we exist and some good for nothing hero shows up I can be sitting in my fancy chair by said same fire-place telling him our plans for world domination and how he's not going to stop us. I'd feel like the big bad antagonist of a story and it would just be such jolly fun!

Hey. Why don't we form the Illuminati? We'll need all the world's money, blackmail on all the world's leaders and bases all over the world.

"You can not stop us Dr.Dofus. Those rare minerals you found on Mars aren't rare at all. They're actually very common." ~ Me sitting cross-legged in my comfy chair by the fire-place, glass of wine in one hand and twirling my evil mustache with the other.

"No! No! I will not believe this! I can't believe this! YOU MONSTER!" ~ Dr.Dofus

The Illuminati have to be refounded of course. Well, their goal is to make the dominion of man over man unnecessary through education and improvements of the moral standards. Sounds reasonable to me.

Along with the Freemasonry they are working well in my idea of communism. I have to read about their methods, but according to the goals of the Illuminati and Freemasonry, they sound like reasonable societies.

And how do you even know that such an organization even exists? There was only the Bavarian Illuminati which is now defunct. Asides from some musical videos containing Illuminatic symbols (Illuminatic? Hm, is that even a word?) I simply see no evidence of such a society.

Of course you could then say "that's because they're secret" but then how do you know they exist and what goals they have? There are numerous versions of what they want, who they are and what they do. My favorite version is that all the world's leaders are part of the order and also lizard men from underground.

The fact is, is that if such a group exist then they've done a bad job remaining secret considering all the exposure videos there are of them.

I made no claim that they exist or not in the present day, because I know they dont, at least not the origial ones from 1776 to 1785.

My favorite is the one I named above that only existed from 1776 to 1785. No world government or underground lizard men necessary, I completly dismiss those things because of the lack of evidence.

It is true as it is for every myth or conspiracy. They did exist and I consider all those Illuminati fan-boy clubs as fake generally until I find one that relies onto the original goals. And the reason why I stick with the goals of the original order, I should mention it at least once, is because those are timeless.
