THE PROS
- Noble Team becomes your family
- Halo has never looked so damn pretty
THE CONS
- Really damn horrible A.I. drivers
I hope you guys love explosions, firefights, and teabagging, because Halo: Reach has all that good stuff and much more. Halo: Reach is set before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved, and you are put into the boots of one of the Spartan - II's of Noble Team. Bungie has done what so many developers have failed to do, which is get you attached to your A.I. buddies. Never before did I (and others) get so attached to our squadmates. The game takes place on the doomed planet Reach, a threshold not yet crossed by the Covenant. For those who don't know, humans have been waging war on one another for centuries in the outer colonies. After several mysterious disturbances, Noble Team is sent in to halt what the UNSC believe is a rebel uprising. Seeing as tons of people know that the Covenant are gonna kick some human ass, the game gets very dramatic. More than once I wanted to yell that the rebels are nonexistant and to run like hell for the nearest giant space gun.
There are many more vehicle sections this time, and sadly a very brief taste of space combat. Speaking of vehicles, the A.I. drivers on Reach are atrocious. You will need to take the wheel yourself. This is actually also a good thing, since the A.I. has much better aim than you, and it is damn fun splattering enemies on the grill of your Warthog. The weapons of Reach are amazing. No longer are they Hasbro toys sounding, they have a huge kick to them, and the explosions are real tear jerkers. Armour abilities such as the jetpack or hologram are scattered throughout the game and can be real game changers. Note however that you can only carry one at a time. Overall. Reach's campaign is one of the best in the series and you are encouraged to fight with your squad, not independently like in previous Halo games. Stuff like that may seem small, but it makes Reach's emotional journey all the more satisfying. The Campaign is golden, and should not be skipped up. Plus, you get to avoid those 9 year old trashtalking jerkwads on Multiplayer (every game has them). The campaign of Reach gets a phenomenal 5 out of 5.
The multiplayer, along with Forge and firefight, are coming soon. (I didn't play Multiplayer yet).
I am NOT gonna reveal anything, but I will say that there is a great ending and a good surprise after the credits roll. I can feel Cpl. Rush having a happy seizure from here.
You forgot that most AIs are drove by maps and such. Bungie said that their new AI is to be more self-decitioned and free. Thats why it may suck.
Anyhow, yeah. I believe your gonna be correct! NOW GO KICK SOME *** SPARTAN!
I just played through the campaign and yes, it was some huge AI fails I had, but they were more like small bugs to me, the AI was GREAT. So was the game. Loved it, made me all emotional, sad really.
Best. Game. Ever. Makes half-life look like Toy Story, really.
You know, I was about to leave behind my hate for Halo. I was going to stop saying "HALO IS FAIL!" and actually buy Halo Reach. And then...
I GOT SMACKED IN THE FACE!
360 only!? REALLY!?
So, Bungie, thou shalt feeleth my reign of terror once gain. HALOO SUKS MANN!
Yea, I feel you on that. 360 only is kinda gay.
No, they cant make it for PC because its heavier than crysis, and would fry your drive. JK.
But theyve been devving for xBox for a long time, Is like Raider7 all of a sudden changing from PC to XB, wouldnt be good. They cant just port it.
And they love their stuff on the xBox, and blame Microsoft for that.
But PS3 is worse than XB, 1000 times.
reach is 10 times better than halo 3.
so it deserves its rating at gamespot.
Hey, how come a crap game like halo gets 5\5 with you suckers, and Mario Galaxy 2 only gets 2\5? Brutely honest? I think not.
