I can't believe I forgot to post about Professor Sycamore in the July Update! Well, here he is, the Professor of the Kalos Region!
He will do the Introduction of "Welcome to the World of Pokémon!" like we have in every main game of the Pokémon series. However, you technically don't meet him until Lumiose City, which means someone else, maybe your friends give you your Starter Pokémon and Pokedex.
Professor Sycamore will occasionally challenge you to a battle throughout the game.
Also, I forgot to mention, that similar to Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, you are moving to the Kalos Region. What Region you are moving from is unknown.
