I'm not sure if I put this in the right place, feck it .If you or someone you know is thinking of buying" EMPIRE TOTAL WAR" for the pc ,HOLD OFF , WAIT it's a mess of bugs. works on some machines but not on others and some people cant even get it to install.
Mine installed ok But it CTD after every turn.
Looks like it will be a few more months of Patching till they get it right so save yourself money and stress,WAIT.

I bought the special forces edition and the setup involved installing steam and have it running in order to play the game, can play with steam in offline mode but might require the odd connection to the net once in a while. I actually found a website that had updated and multiple ways of installing the game if anybody ever need it.
Mine installed fine as well but i do suffer the odd crash, mainly after coming out of a big battle or at the start of my turn but it's not every turn thankfully.
I also have an annoying bug that if i click Portsmouth docks when they level 5 (I think), the game freezes for a few minutes.

YEA, having to run Steam to play is a bit much, But i've had no probs with it.Forums are alright and it gives some good deals on new and old games.
Heard about that Portsmouth dock bug , Don't think there is a fix yet. Just wish they got the finger out and fix the game.

OK , strike my last ,downloaded new patch last week and for some reason Steam thought it would be nice to give me a free game(left4Dead)for 24 hrs, without telling me it started at the same time as the patch, it took 5 hrs to find out what the feck was going on, so i stoped the game download but kept the patch going.Patched fine , had a quick game and as per usual it did feck all ,so i thought in facked it did a whole lot like totaly screwing up my game and steam ,NOW NOTHING FECKING WORKS not the game or fecking Steam. I go to start the game 5 sec later it turns it's self off and Steam WILL NOT CONNECT TO NET.
Have tried everything (I trained as a pc tec so i know a little bit)
Anyone know if after 3 mounths can i get my money back easly or will I have to bring a BIG FECKIN STICK?

That's a pain in the arse, I doubt you'll have much luck after 3 months. Is there any fan made patches availiable? Trying clearing the game of and re-installing or something, perhaps something was corrupted, not very likely I know but worth a shot.

Almost impossible to return pc games, wouldn't mind getting rid of my empire total flop as well but think it might end up in the hands of a friend for one of their games.

I really wish there was a preowned pc game market.

Fun game type but way to buggy for my liking, might try medieval total war.

I did buy used games from amazon a while back and they were well priced but selling games in town would be great or at the very least some sort of pc game trade in.

Edit:
Forgot about Play, they also have a used market but i have only bought dvds.

Why is it that Pc games don't have a preowned market? The people in the shops have always said due to viruses which is bullshit because a virus can't write itself on to a writable disk. I'm assuming it is because they don't want you to install the game and then bring it back getting your money back.

Anybody but Sold out games? The game shop beside me sells them 3 for a tenner and they have some absolutly brilliant titles on them, picked up farcry and Civ 3 the other day. I've been hooked on Civ 3 but still wanting to finish Crisis Core, Ico and Mafia before I get serious into Civ and Farcry, it's mental as I stopped playing games for about a year [except for Tekken tags with mates, can't get bored of it!] and now I am back into them in a big way!!

I think its really because shops are afraid the person might have copied the game and then returned it. The virus line they give is BS, sounds like a legal cover for not accepting returns.

I have a few Soldout and Xplosive games, Spellforce and Soldiers Heroes of WW2 are two of gems i found in the Soldout shelf. I would recommend Soldiers Heroes of WW2, it's an RTS but you can take direct control of a unit, Men of War and Faces of War are basically its sequels but you can't really beat the original.
If you ever have a few minutes to spare and a few quid then it's always worth the time to look at the ranges.
