You're right. They lost a war to goat herders and poppy farmers.
Almost correct. US-backed (mostly financially) goat herders and poppy farmers, which in turn gave rise to Al-Qaeda and pretty much all contemporary islamist terrorist groups.
If you want to get on your soapbox then place it in the appropriate groups.
So I really didn't want to delete that chain of comments but it was becoming obvious that some people will not take the hint to drop the discussion.
