IPv6 issues | Locked | |

Hi, I don't know where to best post this, since this happens with both the Windows and Linux client, but in the end is an issue with the server providing secure.desura.com. Here is the problem: I have a fully functional dual-stack (IPv4 & IPv6) setup. Therefore IPv6-capable software prefers IPv6 hosts. This includes the Desura client. But sometimes, secure.desura.com is extremely slow to respond over IPv6 - so slow in fact, that every login request from the client times out. You won't notice this problem with a web browser on a dual-stack system, since web browsers use an algorithm called "Happy Eyeballs" to choose between IPv4 and IPv6. Currently I see 3 options here: Or am I missing something? |

Hi, sorry to dig this topic but I am currently experiencing the same issues.. OS Windows 7 64, Google Chrome browser. Since the last week-end Desura website would give me : Error 101 Connection Reset.. And the Desura client would not launch at all.. I have searched for the cause, Temp folder has Admin access, reinstalled Chrome, checked firewall settings etc.. Now, I have a Neufbox (French user) and found out I MUST disable the IPv6 feature, to get Desura to work as intended, as it was before this week-end.. This is slowing my whole browsing quite a lot though.. My question here is, what is happening about IPv6 right now with Desura.. !? Thanks, I hope a professional reply and a quick fix to how things were and IPv6 regular support again.. |

You can add the following entry to your hosts file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) until the ipv6 stuff is straightened out: 103.24.121.22 secure.desura.com To Desura - you guys shouldn't be advertising AAAA records for your domain if you aren't going to be able to offer reliable ipv6 connectivity. As it stands right now anyone with ipv6 enabled can't even view the forums. Edited by: alyandon |

Just checking after all this time and stil not working from Desura.. But your help provided adding lines worked, thanks a lot!! How to do for the same access with related Desura sites? Indieroyale, Moddb and Indiedb are the ones I know of, also needing such fix.. Please? Edited by: Kwama57 |

The same as with the other sites. All frontend servers seem to use 103.24.121.10 for IPv4 and 2406:bd00:de00:de00::10 (which STILL doesn't work) for IPv6.
If you are using Firefox, you can set the config option (in "about:config") network.dns.ipv4OnlyDomains to ".indiedb.com,.indieroyale.com,.moddb.com" to get a similar effect, just in the browser... I really don't know how to break a system like this: Paste.debian.net Paste.debian.net |

Hi All, Would appreciate if you could re-test IPv6 as of today. I've made some major changes to the v6 termination last night which hopefully has fixed the issues you are experiencing. -- Greg M |

Hi, I come to report a change for my line, now only Desura is working fine, the 3 other sites are giving : 503 Service Unavailable No server is available to handle this request. Edited by: Kwama57 |

All services (the website or the app) doesn't work in ipv6 for me. The Desura app is throwing the error:
But it doesn't throw this error when I disable ipv6. |

I'm getting the "503 Service Unavailable No server is available to handle this request." on my IPv6 enabled machines when browsing to: desura.com, indieroyale, com, indiedb.com, moddb.com Not seeing it on: dailyroyale.com, indiedb.com It just looks like someone mucked with a webserver config somewhere, since these sites all worked for me yesterday. Also, FYI, the IPv6 address of the server that is giving the response as above is: 2406:bd00:de00:de00::10 Edited by: NotEmul8d |

I was unable to access Desura via client or web for ~= 2-3 months or possibly longer and pinpointed it to IPv6 problems as well using the same Firefox workaround mentioned above. I intended to try to diagnose it further but never had the time to allocate. Just stumbled upon this thread while helping someone else who mentioned they had problems on the service as well and re-tested things again now in light of the above mentioned fixes. I'm happy to report that both the client is working now by default (presumably over IPv6 although I haven't checked specifically), and the website is working over IPv6 in Firefox and Chrome (using the IPvFox and IPvFoo extensions respectively). The Indieroyale website is working again as well. Thanks for resolving these issues, and thanks for being ahead of the curve in adopting IPv6 earlier than the rest of the world as it helps contribute to getting everything on the Internet into an IPv6 dominant state. |

@Greg Thanks for taking a look into it but I'm still having trouble connecting via IPv6. If it helps any I've sent you a PM with a traceroute and a curl session to demonstrate the problem. |

Can you please re-test v6 access now. Unfortunatelly we are seeing tunnel-based users being unable to connect. We have contacted HE.net and they've asked us to re-test. -- Greg M |

Just to confirm in the thread it appears that IPv6 connectivity is working for me now. Thanks for looking into it Greg. |

Hi, for my line it is now back in working order as well, for the 4 sites : Desura, Indie Royale, Indiedb and Moddb. Thanks again Greg for your support, and your work!! Edit : How I hate to be THAT guy.. Desura website lead to Moddb now with "404 not found" error and the Desura App is broken silent since a few days. I have tried with both IPv4 and IPv6 none is working, I could only get through to the website using my PS Vita browser. Sir Greg will try to locate my IP and shut me dead someday for this, sorry.. >.< Bump for serious business, sorry yet again! Edited by: Kwama57 |
