Not sure why this is such a big deal, its not like there is ever going to be a massive land invasion/war anywhere.
The way war is fought is changing, no longer is thousands of Infantry the best defense. Cyber attacks, drones, and intelligence are the new things. Drones don't cost as much as a platoon either, considering effectiveness to cost.
Are you sure? The way it looks, NATO and SCO are coming to blows more and more as it goes. If the threats of the Israeli prime minister are going to be fulfilled, we'll have WW3 in our hands this summer.
not sure what you mean by SCO but it doesn't really matter much the US has not cut the military budget since Carter, we have the # 1 military in the world the #2 military barely makes half of our military strength, and the next 10 including #2 don't match our military strength, in other words the US has the capability to roflstomp any war it gets into, except maybe the Chinese who could potentially hold us back while they build up a War machine the likes of which has never been seen in the history of the world, but the Chinese are not stupid enough to fight us at their current strength and dependence on the US, it would destroy both nations a war between China and the US.
