For many years, I've had an interest in WH40K's very early incarnation of the Necrons, (back when they were still a mysterious force known as the Necron-Raiders)
I decided a while ago I would implement them as a new race for dawn of war, however I decided they needed something unique to set them apart from the actual Necrons already in the game:

1. the simple cosmetic FX like glowing eyes, portals, etc. will be replaced by pseudo FX, made from meshes, (some with texture animations), these meshes will be team-colourable on trim2 in the army painter.

2. the mod will feature new models for all units, made in the style of necron-raiders, the army will also feature the following additional units (some based on custom units that where around before the original Necron Codex Release) (besides Lord, Immortals, Warriors and Scarabs), Monument(HQ: Monolith equivalent, based on a model I made for use with my classic Necron army in the table-top warhammer40k game, but after years have yet to finish, my dawn of war version however is in a much more complete state), Node(mobile portal: for deploying and moving troops), Scorpion(Maintenance and support unit: repairs squads and buildings, moves quickly, based on my own interpretation of the popular custom miniature, I hope to obtain one in real life eventually), Eternal(Very Heavy unit, based on the, once popular, custom troop of the same name that looked suspiciously like a very bulky version of the current Necron destroyer, another one I hope to own in real life some day), Locusts(Something special I have planned for strategic points), Perpetual(Based on a big custom Necron I brought on eBay once, maybe it could use a better name), Lesser Monument(Like the original version of the obelisk was a small airborne monolith, before GW subsequently used the name for a somewhat uninspiring alternate build of the tesseract vault kit, only this one is a smaller weaker version of the monument),

3. to represent the fact that these Necrons are a raiding party, It is currently planned that they will not use any conventional buildings or builder units, I have plans for the Monument, Node and lesser-monument squads to fulfil the roles of buildings, as such this race will have no fixed location on the map, however there is something unique in the works for the Monument to help balance thing a bit (namely it will be limited to one and when rebuilt will re-spawn where it died, it will also be the stand in for a builder unit, producing both the Node and Lesser-Monument)

Its would be better to do this race in stand-alone mod, man!

Thanks my friend, that's what I was thinking, (all my race expansions will be separate mods anyway, with a combiner for some to be used with your World-Rulers mod and possibly with other mods too)
