Imagine a sneaky lord comes in your town with his army in 4 A.M. and easily capture the city because there is noone to defend. Offline people in sieges should turn into bots in their levels, i mean computer should take over them.

You can hire Watchmen/archers/Men-at-arms/etc.. to guard the city, plus common sense (like do not leave a city unguarded)
