It's not obeslute, it's the maingun on the swedish IFV CV-90, compare that to the bradleys puny 30mm, It's also used on ships as deck guns (same gun but on in turret). And you know they have it on the AC-130 :p

And the rate of fire can actually be adjusted, the new ones fire pretty darn fast, and have you seen what a 40mm round does to an helicopter? A close miss will shread the rotors to pieces D:

Bradley does have only 25mm because it does not need any better, against armor it has TOWs.

But you are right, Bofors are the same as M2s, great old design that is still needed nowadays.

you know what a 40mm shell does to infantry? It's a huge difference in the killradius between a 25mm a 40mm shell. Watch the video I linked in the sumamrys comment. And M2? you mean the 90mm AA gun?

And even you americans use bofors 40 mm En.wikipedia.org

40mm cannon against infantry is overkill. Even 20mm is enough, but that really lacks armor piercing effect.

By M2, I meant M2 Browning, the 12.7mm machinegun from WW1. Both this and Bofors are old, but surprisingly effective designs.

Also, why would you think I'm American? You have missed by half of Earth, I´m from Czech republic.
