NO. >:(
It is Best Disappointment anime of the year, regardless of the spawned memes.
It had a promising idea in the "alternate world" genre, where the MC resets when he died. However after 25 (50) episodes of torture, it turns out that he is one of the shittiest hero with NO character development at all, same with the main heroine(lol), even the supporting casts have a lot more character than these two. The overall story also feels empty, with the it all feels like pointless murders and flag-breaking. Good visual, disappointing story.
But probably this is only the anime's problem. I heard many stuffs were changed from the original light novels.
That's especially why I wrote "imo" at the end of my comment. Opinions really diverge from one to another, I can understand that. Although I literally enjoyed it, I can agree with you on some points, especially on poor character development. I was expecting a lot more from it: I've been reading the light novels before it aired and I got the feeling that the production studios rushed (and sometimes skipped) some key moments. That disappointed me a little bit when I realized that their true intent was to alter the story in the end.
BUT SOMEHOW I enjoyed watching each episode and "never got really bored"; surprisingly, it's the one of this year's animes, among the dozens I've watched, that I've enjoyed the most. That's why I'm saying it's the "Best anime of the year imo. :)"— for me, a least, it is. I can understand your comment though and I respect your opinion; we may not have the same expectation level after all. But globally, Re:Zero's anime satisfied me. :)
sorry, I went overboard as well. I just got triggered over there, so nothing really personal. ^^;
I also watched Re:Zero because the synopsis really interests me and the manga did good so far. I watched every episode in high hope of what will happen next, but mostly it always ends in Subaru doing something stupid (akin to Shinji in Evangelion).
maybe that's what they said "The more you expect, the more disappointed you will be". so yeah, sorry for the overreaction. :/

Ahah don't worry mate, you don't have to apologize— that's fine.
As I said, although I really enjoyed it, Re:Zero disappointed me in many ways too.
I kind of felt betrayed while watching its last episode.
So I totally understand your opinion.
And yeah you're right about Subaru ending stupidly everytime. ^^
