The 501st Legion, also known as the 501st Battalion during the Clone Wars and later known as "Vader's Fist" and the Five Hundred and First, was an elite unit of clone troopers commissioned by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine during the Clone Wars that later became a stormtrooper unit. Made up of units like Torrent Company, the 501st fought in many battles, such as the Battle of Teth and the Battle of Coruscant, becoming one of the most well-known legions. In 19 BBY, the 501st became Darth Vader's personal unit as he led them during Operation: Knightfall, in which the clones helped take down the Jedi, whom they believed to be traitors to the Republic.

Body guards at the time?
I think what he means is Vader never really had royal guards on the battlefield.
Still an Awesome picture though.
Yeah he never needed bodyguards maybe they were helping fight the enemy and Palpatines body guards were there at the time?
Well he could always use a meat shield or even throw them at the enemy lol "you've been promoted to boomerang guard"

nice one that joke reminds me of a time i was blacking call of duty 4 galatic warfare mod and i jumped in front of my team mate to save his life dont ask why and i die but he dosnt avenge me u will not belive how ticked of i was
ps plus he was a old freind i would not jump in front of a blaster for anyone else except family in that matter
