The 501st Legion, also known as the 501st Battalion during the Clone Wars and later known as "Vader's Fist" and the Five Hundred and First, was an elite unit of clone troopers commissioned by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine during the Clone Wars that later became a stormtrooper unit. Made up of units like Torrent Company, the 501st fought in many battles, such as the Battle of Teth and the Battle of Coruscant, becoming one of the most well-known legions. In 19 BBY, the 501st became Darth Vader's personal unit as he led them during Operation: Knightfall, in which the clones helped take down the Jedi, whom they believed to be traitors to the Republic.
As I recall shooting barely helped. Those things were walking tanks.
Makes you wonder how a standard trooper platoon put up with a column of those "walking tanks".
Perhaps the DC-15 had greater firepower over de DC-17 which traded in its firepower for modularity.
Also, it's a video game that came out before Episode 3. Remember Kashyyyk? No Phase 2 Clones or Venator in sight.
Uuh...
Rockets? Thermal detonators?
The clones were pretty clever, not your average stormtroopers who catch dust while guarding or patrolling.
Even the thermal detonators used in the game didn't 1 off those things.
As for cleverness, I remember one charging a Trandoshian Elite on the Prosecutor. Which wasn't too intelligent of a move, nor was them standing out in the open of hallways instead of using cover when being attacked.
Frankly, the clones are portrayed a lot less magnificently in Republic Commando. Making the Commandos appear as the only ones who could get stuff done. But they were the focus of the game after all so that's to be expected.
Republic Commando may be canon when it comes to the squad itself but details of what happened in the game I can't count as such. The game was tailored to make Delta Squad look good, that was the point. That and sell for episode 3.
Imperial commando was also supposed to be released. I was very curious about that game.
Right now there is only one novel available,Star Wars Imperial Commando: 501st.
Yeah they were a nightmare, especially on highest difficulty, they took so many shots with the sniper rifle. Detonators were useless and even in hand-to-hand combat it was really dangerous, especially in later parts of the game.
And bigger guns were pretty rare, same with grenade launcher ammo, when you even had the launcher already.
