The 501st Legion, also known as the 501st Battalion during the Clone Wars and later known as "Vader's Fist" and the Five Hundred and First, was an elite unit of clone troopers commissioned by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine during the Clone Wars that later became a stormtrooper unit. Made up of units like Torrent Company, the 501st fought in many battles, such as the Battle of Teth and the Battle of Coruscant, becoming one of the most well-known legions. In 19 BBY, the 501st became Darth Vader's personal unit as he led them during Operation: Knightfall, in which the clones helped take down the Jedi, whom they believed to be traitors to the Republic.

Sometime before the Clone Wars, Rahm Kota was taken in by Mace Windu to be trained as a Jedi. Kota was trained as a Jedi by Master Yoda and quickly became a Jedi Master.
At the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Kota refused to lead Clone Troopers into battle judging them unfit for battle. Instead he recruited his own militia known as Kota's militia, from the militaries of various worlds and mercenary groups.
When Order 66 was given he and his militia went into hiding, years later they would return to activity by attacking many Imperial military targets. He was mysteriously stopped by an unknown assailant codenamed "Starkiller"
But he would re-emerge once again on Corellia, where he and several other rebels convened. This meeting was cut short by the arrival of the 501st and Lord Vader who captured them and led them to the Death Star I, where the Emperor would personally oversee the execution.
However, the agent codenamed Starkiller returned and freed the Rebels at the cost of his own life.
Some time later, Rahm Kota returned to his dissident way and attacked military targets until he was captured on Cato Neimodia and sent to fight in the Tarko-Se Arena where once more, he was freed by an unknown assailant.
He would then proceed to lead a daring and successful strike on Kamino where Lord Vader was captured.
This however did not stop the 501st from freeing Lord Vader later and slaughtering the gathered Rebels including the assailant, Rahm Kota and the traitor Juno Eclipse.

wait, where was it said that Juno and Rahm was killed? as far as i Know and wookieepedia knows Starwars.wikia.com he is not dead.
