The 501st Legion, also known as the 501st Battalion during the Clone Wars and later known as "Vader's Fist" and the Five Hundred and First, was an elite unit of clone troopers commissioned by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine during the Clone Wars that later became a stormtrooper unit. Made up of units like Torrent Company, the 501st fought in many battles, such as the Battle of Teth and the Battle of Coruscant, becoming one of the most well-known legions. In 19 BBY, the 501st became Darth Vader's personal unit as he led them during Operation: Knightfall, in which the clones helped take down the Jedi, whom they believed to be traitors to the Republic.

Why doesn't he just use force shockwave and blow them all off their feet?
That's the one thing I may never understand about Jedi or Sith. There are so many instances where using the force could make their job easier and they instead choose to screw around with their lightsaber.
Express their badassery with a saber perhaps?
Maul was never really all that strong in the force, and he really likes showing off/ getting to use his saber abilities.
That depends on the situation. Some enemies may be resistant to some force attacks and lightsaber combat is required.
Force powers seem to tire the individual using them thus making them weaker for an upcoming event where they would really benefit from having that energy.
Personal preference of the individual also comes into play. Some may just rather kill stuff with a lightsaber than with the force.
In this situation it seems that it's probably Maul's preference and just because he is killing stuff with a lightsaber doesn't mean that he's not using the force to aid him. Also Mitthrawnuruodochiss makes a valid point. Some are just better with lightsabers than the force.
All right. Fair points everyone. I understand.
Still though, Starkiller pulled a Star Destroyer out of the sky, so you'd think a task as simple as this for a Jedi or Sith wouldn't be much challenge. Regarding force abilities.
I remember the old 2000 Clone Wars show where Mace Windu went nuts using the force to blow back battle droids, punch them to bits with his bare hands and the force, and even disassemble them using the force. It shocked me honestly.
Didn't even look like he needed a lightsaber...
