Have you ever wanted to be a spaceship Captain, facing real challenges and making meaningful choices; a Helmsman, evading missiles while keeping the enemy in your sights; a Tactical Officer, bringing destruction to your foes and managing away teams; a Science Officer, fighting an information war and directing researchers; or a Chief Engineer, pushing systems to their limits and overseeing technicians. If the answer is yes, Universe or Nothing is your game.
Each system on the ship has an "Energy Bank". On the Engineer's screen a Energy Bank widget hovers over each system on the ship, showing vital info.
This images shows two of these widgets, for the Forward and Read Shields.
In this example the Forward Shields have taken severe damage. The Energy Input ("IN" bar) on this bank has been "overclocked" to 8 in order to recharge the shields faster. This is generating a lot of heat, the coloured ring around the icon shows Heat Output. The red glow around the ring shows accumulated heat, too much of this will damage the system Integrity over time.
The "Out" bar shows the Energy Output. For shields the Energy Output affects how much damage is absorbed by the shields. Shields usually only absorb part of a weapon's damage, leaving the hull to deal with the rest.
Exciting to see an update! Keep up the good* work!

Heh thanks. :)
It feels really good to be back in the flow of it.
I've just updated the image to a new version of the widgets. I added an icon/badge to the heat output indicator to make it clearer what that is (the coloured circle shows the current heat output for this system).
This is some really exciting stuff. The update is much appreciated and the GUI is looking very slick. I can't wait to hear about future developments and wish you the very best with the project.
