The Ancients is a game set on Earth. In 200BC. The Roman Republic is slowly taking the mediterranean by storm, the second of the punic wars has just ended, yet the war against Macedon has just begun - and this is just in Italy. Travel and explore the land and peoples, from the Lusitanians of the Iberian Peninsula to the ancient Ainu of Japan.

After a spark of inspiration, I decided to have a shot at Character Portraits, which will be a feature in the game. Here are some mock shots with a handful of variations, including an emotion.
I plan to make it so that the portraits change emotion according to mood or HP. ie, Smiling if they're in a good mood. Or vice versa, broody if they're not.
Blood dribbling from their lip, if they're hurt (Doom, anybody?), alternatively.
The fact that portraits are customizable, however, (You can choose your hair, beard, face shape, skin tone, so forth) means this could be difficult to add in, though.
We'll see how it goes!
Oh, and, can anybody spot my Leonidas? Heh.
