1. Introduction

Victoria McPherson is a brilliant young FBI agent who's investigating
a serial murder case. The body count is now at five and she has no real
leads, nothing but a mountain of circumstantial evidence and a boss
who's breathing down her neck.
In order to take a break from it all, she decides to visit her father
in the suburbs. Since it's close to the Christmas holidays, she and her
father talk about their family, including Victoria's grandfather, who
used to be a private investigator. This discussion leads Victoria to read
one of her grandfather's old case files, a file which reveals an
uncomfortably high number of similarities between a seventy-five year old
case in Europe and the current string of killings in Chicago...

3. Installation

To start the installation, insert CD 1 into your CD-ROM drive.
If the auto-run mode on your computer is enabled, the installation will
start automatically. Please follow on screen instructions carefully.
If the auto-run mode on your computer is disabled, you can install
the game manually by doing the following:
a) At the Windows desktop, click on ‘Start’.
b) Select ‘Run’ and type the letter of your CD-ROM drive and
‘Setup.exe’ (i.e. D:\setup.exe).
*OR*
a) Double-click on ‘My Computer’.
b) Right-click on the CD-ROM drive with the Still Life CD 1 and
select ‘Open’ to access the contents of the CD.
c) Double-click on the ‘Setup.exe’ file to launch the installation.

4. DirectX and Drivers

Still Life has been tested with a variety of video and sound cards.
Please ensure all drivers are up to date for the system hardware,
especially for video cards.

5. Performance and Options

In the Main Menu of Still Life, you can go into the OPTIONS menu and
adjust the following for better performance:
Anti-Aliasing: Move the slider to Improve the way the
game’s characters are displayed.
Details: Reduces or increases background details of the game.
Gamma Correction: Move the slider to change the brightness of the display
Controls: Select between mouse or keyboard controls
Volume: Move the slider to increase or decrease volume settings for
the game's music, dialog and sound effects.
To adjust the options while you are within a game, right-click on
your mouse.

6. Uninstalling Still Life

To uninstall Still Life:
Go to START -> (All) Programs -> The Adventure Company -> Microids
-> Still Life -> Uninstall
Alternatively, you can open your Control Panel, choose "Add/Remove
Programs," select Still Life and then click "Remove."
