Developed by Blizzard following the sucessful WarCraft series, Starcraft is undoubtably one of the most innovative and popular RTS games to hit the market. Introducing for the first time three races all completly unique yet perfectly balanced, this made for some fantastic gameplay with zergling rushes, to siege tank massacres. With starcraft having such a cult following there are bountiful mods available from simplistic character changes to new scenarios, and challenges to face. The fact that Starcraft has been game of the year sums up just how good this game is, so crank it up if you are not already playing it!
Brontes IV was a small planet missing from most Confederate navigation charts. At least until all hell broke loose. Now the Swarm advances through a living nightmare of smoke and laser-fire. Protoss rain down from orbit, obliterating Zerg and Terran alike. Amid the ruins of burnt-out cities, a Terran rebellion seethes under the inspiration of a madman. Abandoned by the Confederacy, facing corruption from within, few will endure the planet's darkest hour. Yet, all that rabble needs to become an organized force, is a Leader... Welcome to Brontes IV.
Welcome to Insurrection Remastered. You might have heard about the obscure, official third party add-on for StarCraft 1 called StarCraft: Insurrection. Back in the day, and still to this day, it was considered pretty bad. However, the unintentionally goofy characters and situations, the not bad story, and Jayborino's Playthrough of it made me get into mapmaking. I've made two campaigns previously, both based on jokes originated from Jayborino's Playthrough of Insurrection, so I decided to give Insurrection some attention and care, as going through the entirety of the triggers showed me how messy the mapmakers were. I've improved it, polishing dialogue and triggers, fixing broken triggers, using unused dialogue, and even adding new things. There's also some other minor changes that fit my mapmaking style or that I just thought were necessary or appropriate. This does not try be 'Insurrection but good', just an Improvement over what it was so it's not terrible. It's still the same most of the time, but completely making it from scratch so
I could make an actually good campaign out of it presents two problems, one: it still took me around a month to just polish and improve the 30 maps Insurrection is composed of, making completely new maps from scratch would've taken forever and coming out with ideas to not have half of the maps be the classic 'build and destroy' would've driven me insane, and two: if Insurrection was good "as it should have been", I would've never found Jayborino and I would've never gotten into mapmaking. And by the way, you do not need StarCraft Remastered to play it, I just chose that name because SCR's release was one of the motivations to do this, most versions of StarCraft will work, even some pre 1.16.1 ones.
Thanks for reading all of this, and I hope you enjoy or at least appreciate this honorable mention to an old campaign.
