This is Socuwan, a game which in 2017 will be an MMO of epic proportions! Craft, skill and battle your way to fame and glory in a world that is heavily based around PvP. However, this is no ordinary RPG...this is an mmorpg with a massive twist and a game-play like no other! Unfortunately I cannot reveal what this special game-play is quite yet, so watch this space!

The game is written in Java and uses opengl. Currently I am the only developer but will be putting together a team later this year. You can watch weekly dev diary videos on my youtube channel.

Current Features:

  • Multiplayer Auction System
  • Thousands of weapon combinations
  • Basic multiplayer combat
  • A few simple mobs
  • Food and hunger
  • A beautiful and diverse world

Coming soon (next few months):

  • Improved magic and ranged attacks
  • A huge graphics update adding skyboxes, water, and much more!
  • Combat against Mobs
  • A world editor, meaning that creation of the world can begin!
  • Groundbreaking game-play ;)

Future Plans:

  • Co-operative skilling
  • Mounts
  • Clans
  • Chat system
  • Guilds
  • Ranking system
  • Player owned houses
  • And the big reveal...

Over the last few weeks I've been continuing the work on my game's dev kit, especially when it comes to the World Editor. I've added a large number of features that now allow the user to edit and create unique towns and landscapes for the game. The world editor now contains a large array of options for altering the terrain settings, and editing and placing entities in the 3D world.

The two videos below are some of my recent devlog videos about the updates. You can see more recent devlogs and more on my Youtube channel. Do let me know what you think! I'm always open to suggestions, and also let me know if you'd like to receive a copy of the dev kit when it gets released at the end of this week.

Thanks for reading, and enjoy the devlogs!

And the second devlog video, showing how you can set ambient music and weather effects in the editor:

As I recall your skybox is done just using two layers and fading between images to get the day/night cycle right? It might look/work a little better if you made it work off 3 layers one for the sky color, one for the sun, and the last as a cloud layer. that way the clouds wouldn't change with the time of day. you could then also have stars at night that get covered with clouds randomly and other things like more dynamic weather ect.

there any chance of an early access release? 3 years is a long wait for a game.

Looks awesome, will be keeping an eye on it.

BTW what is "Socuwan" anyway? Does it mean something or did it just sound cool?

Thanks :) And it's an acronym for "Some One Come Up With A Name!" I don't actually have a name for the game yet =P

@djJohson @UberSolowZ My game is not going to be anything like RS, it's just the same genre so there are of course similarities
