I was wondering if perhaps a skill system could be added to give more immediate and lasting benefits to the completion of missions. The basic idea is each mission would give xp, and at a new level of xp you would gain a new skill point. Some sample skills would be:
1) Detect the Temperature of matter
2) Able to see a list of all the different types of matter in a single square
upgrades-2 squares, then three squares, and so on
3) Able to detect the impurities in ore
upgrades-Able to detect more and smaller impurities

Hi Sound Logic,
This is actually something I have been thinking about too - I absolutely agree that it would be good to have an additional reward system.
I will update you to the features of our next releases as soon I am able to make a reliable statement.
