Story writer Harry Mason, had found a little girl abandoned near Silent Hill many years ago that which took on as his adopted daughter Cheryl. Harry is driving along a winding road with Cheryl in the passenger seat. Suddenly the figure of a young girl appears in the fog, forcing Harry to suddenly swerve and crash his car. One of the greatest and scariest games ever released for the PSX and the reason why most gamers have become fans of horror games.
It's a shame to see that horror games nowadays has become nothing but screamers. While my personal favorite game is Silent Hill 2, this one is way scarier than the rest, even to this date.

Yes, it's old and has poor graphics. But just try to play this game — just try — and soon you'll completely forget about all. This game is fascinating, scary atmosphere, interesting puzzles, strange and compound story and universe. This is one of the best horror games ever.
Yes, it was released for PSOne only, but you can use emulator (ePSXe), it works like a charm, maybe even better than on original platfrom.
Of course, now we have Cry of Fear for PC. Really good game, very reminds me Silent Hill from first person. But "reminds" is not "equals to". And between CoF and SH I'll choose SH. And if you like horror games, you should try SH.
