With our christmas release getting closer and closer we feel it's time to finally open to the public something we've been preparing for you and will still continue to work on. We are happy to announce the new PokeWorld Online website. As an MMORPG, it is vital to our success to have a platform of which we can communicate to our community. We know the community is what makes an MMO and the PO team is dedicated to making sure our community has every tool and resource available to boost interaction between our fans. Within the coming months you can be sure to see plenty of updates here as we begin to setup our forum system as well as build the player management tools that are going to be easily accessable from our website.
Of course, our website went through two stages and it certainly wasn't the best at first by any means. Luckily now that we've done a second iteration on our website we feel that it's at the point where we can begin to show you all some of the community features. You can be sure we saved the old version for you to look at however, so if you want to see what the first iteration of our website looked like you can click the link!
This is the first step in a line of things that we plan to bring you before Christmas when we plan to release v0.4 to the public with a permanent and stable server. As we release these things to you it's important to realize that we are still in the early stages of game development and there is much to be done, in fact most of the actual game play mechanics have not been implemented because we've been working on building the engine first. My theory in game development has always been to spend 90% of the time building the tools so you can spend 10% of your time building the game and then it's smooth sailing from there. Of course, that philosophy probably stems from the fact that I hope to be a game engine and tools programmer some day.
Before we leave you, we have one more special thing to show you. Our lead map developer RL_Hacker has recorded the mapping of one of Pokemon's most iconic locations, Viridian Forest. We hope you enjoy watching him work as well as listening to the official Viridian Forest song as part of the PokeWorld Online music.
