What's new
Myriavora now has roguelike mechanics. That's a huge step forward in providing a more varied and interesting gameplay. It required numerous changes to all game systems, most notable in the skill system. I reworked all skills, introduced special skills (perks), and implemented variants (super and ultra skills).
An important part of a roguelike is that you lose most (but in this case not all) of your progress when you die. Therefore, Myriavora now randomizes the camp network, rewards, and enemy waves, so new runs stay fresh and interesting. Of course, this only works if there're enough maps to play at, so I added 9 more maps to the demo.
Installation
If you've installed one of the previous versions, the installer will automatically upgrade it to the new version. Otherwise the installer creates a fresh installation. Characters created with prior versions won't load anymore due to the massive changes.
Technical requirements
- operating system: Windows 7 or later (Vista should work as well, but is untested as of now)
- recommended hardware:
- quad core CPU
- 4 GB RAM
- DirectX 9 compatible dedicated graphics accelerator card with 1 GB VRAM
- minimum hardware:
- CPU with SSE2 support
- DirectX 9 vertex shader model 2 compatible graphics hardware
WOW?! new version !
Your Alive ^_^. hows it going maan..
Yes, all new and shiny! I'm super happy about the roguelite mechanics, it fits the game perfectly. What do you think? Do you like the new version?
(same user from above) ah, Havent checked out the new version yet ,but may soon ^_^.
I so love to give feedback..
Awesome! Don't hold back, because I love to receive feedback (both good & bad)!
I know ^^
Ok so.. so far this day or few hours ago I played for 30 min and 4 waves on first map on Extreme difficulty .
Con- I Havent Checked out the new map yet so .
I gotta say it has some pretty well improvements from previous version ^^. Can’t remember how previous version was but it does looks like the perk , abilities system change does looking more cooler then on previous version ^^.
There’s this strange small problem here but it’s not part of the game , it’s part of recording Gameplay and it seems it happens only on this game , do you know Nvidia Shadowplay ?
Lastly , I’ll try To continue play more tomorrow or later for trying to find more bugs or feedback again soon ^^
But since I’m the only active follower Of your game , I’ll be continue respond about game feedback on private message instead of here , is that ok ?
I haven't heard of Nvidia Shadowplay, but I'll look into it. However, I've recorded some footage with OBS (a free video capturing tool) and it worked well besides some minor issues that were easy to circumvent. I can provide details if you want me to.
I'm looking forward to more feedback! I'd prefer public discussions because they help promote the game (which is my biggest concern right now) and allow for other people to chime in (which would be awesome). Also keep in mind that I check my public pages several times a day, but my mail account only once a day (for time management reasons). But, ultimately, do whatever feels best to you!
Ok , no problem , I’ll try ^^
I just recorded a little test session via Shadowplay and it worked without any issues. What problem exactly did run into?
(About shadowplay) Ah, that’s strange , then it’s probably on my computer .
It happens when I done recorded my gameplay then I play my recorded video of it , the video’s speeds automatically Forward speeds Up itself . So That’s a small issue , but overall it’s not really issue , since I checked uploading it on YouTube (as a test ) the video runs fine .
Hm, yeah, that's strange. I tested my recording with Media Player Classic Black Edition (mpc-be for short), a free and excellent video player, I like it a lot.
Wow! The game looks pretty cool! XD
And it is also always nice to see some casual/normalized nudity gaining space in video games, so extra points for that! ^^
Unfortunately I wasn't able to play that much, because the huge army of spiders managed to kill my computer processor as well and the game shuts down! ^^;
Many thanks, I'm glad you liked it! :^)
But I'm a bit worried about you saying "the game shuts down". Do you mean the game crashed? If that's the case, I would love to investigate the issue. I'd need your help though, like sending me the error log. Would you be willing to do that?
Or do you mean the frame rate tanked? In that case, there're a couple of options you could try like reducing fire effects. I'd be willing to help you find a good compromise between frame rate and visual quality.
The game crashed, with no warning at all.
But apparently the problem was that indeed.
After reducing all of the effects, the game managed to run perfectly!
Thanks a lot! :D
Awesome, thanks for letting me know!
However, I'd still like to investigate the crash, because that's just not supposed to happen. So, would you be willing to help me? It's actually very easy. Just start the game, hold SHIFT and click on the quit button. The game should close and an explorer window should open showing two folders and the settings.txt file. Now, if that's all there is then there's nothing we can do, just let me know. However, if there's also an errorlog.txt file then you would do me a huge favor if you'd open it and copy & paste its contents (or at least the first few lines) here or in a PM to me. It might help me figure out what went wrong and fix the bug.
Ok...
That is everything there was in the file:

2020/Jul/19 21:22:43 7460-DX-8876017c-26-464
Thank you so much, that was very helpful indeed! In case you're curious, the game simply ran out of video memory. I'm not yet sure how to handle this properly, but at the very least there should be a clear error message instead of a crash.
For now, reducing effects settings is indeed helpful as it reduces the game's video memory footprint. On the video options page, all sliders below terrain quality are relevant, and turning dynamic shadows off should help as well. Any other setting (and yes, that includes terrain quality) should have no or negligible effect on video memory consumption.
May I ask you how much memory your video card has? On Windows 10 you can find this out via the task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL, then click "task manager"): click on "more details" (if needed), then the "performance" tab, then on the bottom left click on "GPU 0", then on the right scroll all the way down. There should be an entry labeled "Dedicated GPU memory", that's the number I'm interested in.
Yes, that is what I did and it worked perfectly.
The memory is 0.3/3.9 GB
Hm, that's really weird, 4 GB should be more than enough to run the game on maximum settings. I'll definitely have to investigate this further, right now I'm stumped. I'll probably have to revive my old computer, as its pathetic 1 GB video card used to run the game just fine.
In any case, huge thanks to you! Your feedback is tremendously helpful!
I don't think that it is the problem... I have the bad habit of having several programs running on my computer at once...all of the time... that is one of the main reason most games don't work properly on it... ^^;
Thanks a lot for the clarification! I'll keep that in mind. But I'll also test the game on my old computer, for the peace of mind. Potential bugs make me super anxious.
And so i made some videos of this

Awesome fights! I hope to see more of this! :^)
