A low-tech, browser-based (PHP/MySQL/Javascript) MMORPG set in a fictional land which mimics feudal, circa-Meiji-era Japan. Players will choose their path (Samurai, Ninja, Monk, Geisha, Merchant) and battle against PC and NPC alike in an effort to bring their respective factions to the forefront of the shogunate power vacuum. Non-combative classes will throw an interesting gear into the mix, allowing players to choose more supportive/economy-driven roles instead of the traditional hack 'n slash.

A word regarding kaiju!'s IndieDB presence and development timeline

Posted by on

The kaiju! IndieDB page has been created. Development of kaiju! will resume shortly--I've just got a few other, backlogged projects that I would like to see through to fruition before I continue to dump massive amounts of my time and energy into this game.

Yet to come:

  • A finished auction system (this is currently in the works)
  • A Merchant class (dependent on the auction system)
  • Factions (and their strongholds)
  • Clans (and their strongholds)
  • Terrain-shaping (both through weather and player interaction)
  • Construction (will rely heavily on the terrain-shaping mechanism of the engine)
  • 2nd- and 3rd-tier character classes
  • NPCs and AI
