Description

[USAF OUTDATED - see description] Unofficial patches for Jane's USAF, IAF and Fighter Anthology, by T4ckl3b3rry from Gulf Knight's Air Base. Uploaded for archival purposes, all credits go to him. These patches enable the games to work properly on Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10, and fix an old problem with irresponsive menu interfaces, as well as remove the check for the game discs. The .bat files run the game in single-processor affinity mode for troubleshooting.

It works on Windows 10 but the quick mission builder "Load" button seems to be frozen.

Nevermind, turns out I own older Tackleberry's update. The newer one with ReShade and dgVoodoo fixed the problem.

I feel like a complete idiot, but I've managed to be able to get USAF installed on my Windows 10 system. I patched it with the 1.02 patch that comes on the CD, I've downloaded and extracted the Tackleberry patch, but it's just not working for me. I copied the USAF.exe into the Jane's Combat Simulation folder, and that seemed to make things work, but video was shaky, so I did a Ctrl-A and copied ALL of the USAF patch into that USAF directory under Jane's Combat Simulations, and now the damn thing won't run at all. There's no README for how to actually apply this patch for USAF. How are you guys doing this. I really want to get this sim going again on my new laptop. Thanks - Joe

When running on a system newer than Windows XP, you run USAF through USAF.bat (created by Tackleberry's patch), not USAF.exe. This batch file runs the game in single-processor affinity mode, which increases stability on multi-core processors.

I tried downloading the Tackleberry patch, it does nothing. I cant find a .bat file. The game changes the screen , then goes back to regular... nothing after that.

For Jane's Fighter Anthology, patch the game to v1.02 (included in the zip), and put the FA.bat file in the game's directory and use it to run the game.

For Jane's IAF, patch the game to v1.1, unzip JITP.zip to the game's directory (overwrite: yes) and run "IAFJets One Core.bat" file.

For Jane's USAF, patch the game to v1.02, unzip JUTPWSS.zip to the game's directory (overwrite: yes) and run "USAF One Core.bat" file.

I'll edit the download's description to make this clear.

Which of the games does this refer to?

Try copying all the files from the disc to a folder on your hard drive (if it's USAF which has two discs, put files from both discs in the same folder) and try running setup.exe again, this time as administrator.

What do you do to get that error? Did you install the patch (for whichever of the three games you're referring to) properly as per the file's description?

I've loaded, uninstalled and reloaded many times trying to get it right. At one point I lost three drivers, one being yours. I uninstalled and then ran a search for anything Jane's and found another file in another part of programs. I deleted it and it got my drivers back but still have issues. Hope that helps.

The patch is working, and I was having a blast last night. Thank you so much for uploading this to moddb. I living my childhood all over again.

Unfortunately, I play for 3 hours, and the game only saved a single mission.

Anyone know why the game isn't saving?

For everyone having issues with saving, sound looping, AIM-9 missile malfunctions, or any other issue, please check your game resolution. Evidently, this game goes full retard if you set your resolution above 1024x768. Having your resolution set too high causes all sorts of random issues.

Check out this old threat for more info.

How do I patch? I downloaded the patch, didn't see it anywhere (it said it would save in the Janes's USAF folder on my computer), and I still can't open USAF w windows 10. Love this game so much, just want to be able to use it again!

Make sure you run it as administrator first and that you run it via the .bat file, not the .exe.

It was made long after SuperPro, but I don't know if it was ever made compatible with it.

Alright, followed the instructions carefully but am having an issue. Did a full USAF install, patched to 1.02, then added Tackleberry's patch. Game fires up but then when I try to "Fly Now", I receive a "USAF has stopped working" windows notification and the game shuts down. Any thoughts?
I'm currently running Windows 10 for what it's worth.

As a follow up, the tip provided below about installing in a location OTHER THAN Program Files was the key. Thanks for the help Plokite_Wolf !!!

I've tried the USAF zip several times and at the last point I can open the program but missions, training or any of it says not available.

Is USAF supposed to auto load in the programs and not the programs x86 file? Doesn't seem right.

Make sure you've installed AND run the game as administrator, to a location OTHER THAN Program Files.

I've made some progress with Jane's USAF, but I'm not quite there yet. I have some more specific questions now. Thanks so much for your help and patience! I know I'm not paying for any services here, but I totally would. Right now I can open the game with the batch file, but the videos in the beginning don't play (not a huge deal), no missions show up (big red EMPTY is displayed instead), and when I try to run a quick mission or Fly Now I get an error saying that the game is no longer working x 2 and then it closes. 1. How do I install as an administrator? I see options to run the game as an administrator, but I can only open the disc or install, I don't see an option to do anything as administrator for installation. 2. Where do I get v1.02? My dics don't come with that, and I can't upgrade when I install the game. 3. Are there specific actions I need to do to patch? I can extract the files into Jane's folder (I created a folder outside Program Files in the C drive), but I don't know if I'm supposed to do anything beyond this to patch. I put everything in the unfoldered space and replaced the old files (.exe, etc.) as applicable with the new ones from here. 4. The Resources folder I downloaded from here is much smaller than what came with my discs. How do I extract the Resources folder the right way?

I'm having a very similar problem, except I have the patch. No missions are available, and when I try to do "Fly Now" the game crashes, and when I try to create a custom mission, the "Load" button doesn't seem to do anything.

To answer your question about running as an administrator, you should have that option by right clicking. For me, after unziping the JUTPWSS files and copying them over (there are 4, I think) to the main game folder, I am actually able to run either the .exe or the .bat file to run the game, and don't necessarily have to run it as an administrator. I don't know if that's an indicator that I did something wrong or not. But no matter what I try, the only way to get missions available are when I forget to install the patch first, and when that happened it kept asking for a CD (even though it was still in the drive), and when I install the patch no missions are available and trying to fly a mission crashes the game.

Can someone give me some help with downloading and installing the T4ckl3b3rry path for the USAF flightsim game. I have the 1.02 patch but when I download the T4ckl3b3rry patch the file dose not open. It just flashes on the monitor and nothing else happens. My system is Windows 7 64bit, GeForce GTX760 4G, Resolution 1280 X 1024.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

It's right here: Moddb.com

Also on EA's FTP still: Ftp.ea.com

As for Carldon's issue, will you please specify which file "does not open"? Are you running the game through the .bat file instead of the .exe?

Got USAF RUNNING in a virtual machine. But its runs ugly, laggy and can't have joystick support. No good.

Please guys, anyone have any idea, why on my windows 10 machine it isnt working?

I did all the right stuff, installed everything acording to instructions, intalled outside program files, no good.

I have a quad core, with a dedicated radeon graphics card and an intel HD integrated. Could that be the issue?

Help!
