Halo: Custom Edition, also called "Halo: CE" by many fans, is an extension of Halo: Combat Evolved. This extension can be downloaded free on several websites. Halo: Custom Edition was created by Gearbox Software. This version of Halo is characterized by not having Campaign Mode as Halo for PC but you can play campaign replacing the UI (User Interface) that supports one or giving typing shortcut properties -console and lower campaign maps to play.
Includes every tag used in TSC:E, T&R: Revisited, and Precipice, plus raw data files, all source scripts, and a number of bonus tags. Requires the Open Sauce HEK!
This source release *requires Open Sauce*! It contains:
- Every tag used in TSC:E, a50_redux, and Precipice.
- Script source files for TSC:E, a50_redux, and Precipice.
- Other miscellaneous source data for TSC:E.
- Bonus multiplayer-friendly tags.
- Bonus "h1_spirit" tags, replicating the vanilla Halo sandbox with TSC:E assets.
- Bonus weapon prototypes that didn't make it into TSC:E.
- Any other tags we had lying around, that weren't deleted for being broken / unused.
Here's what everything is:
- /data/ contains whatever miscellaneous source data we could put together, and source scripts for a50_redux & Precipice. It does *not* contain source scripts for TSC:E!
- /doc/ contains informal notes on what we did, and why. Please read the IMPORTANT notes before using any tags!
- /scripts/ contains TSC:E script source files. Read /doc/scripts/Overview.txt to get started!
- /tags/ contains the tags.
- /tags-stock-os_fixes/ contains stock tags stripped of unused, Open Sauce-crashing garbage.
- /tags-stock-ui_replacements/ contains stripped-down UI tags needed to build TSC:E.
- /util/ contains a few helpful tools we put together during development.

Install guide:
You'll need to install Custom Edition, patch 1.0.10, the HEK, and Open Sauce, in that order. When installing Open Sauce, be sure to enable the Open Sauce HEK feature!
You'll also need a complete stock tagset: we use a lot of stock tags that aren't included in the barebones HEK install.

Once everything is installed, you can just drop /cmt/ into your /tags/ folder, and everything should just work, with two exceptions:
- Some stock tags may contain weird unused garbage data that breaks Open Sauce. You can patch these by copying the contents of /tags-stock-os_fixes/ to your /tags/ folder. This is completely safe, so you don't need to back anything up unless you're really paranoid.
- To build TSC:E, you'll need to copy the contents of /tags-stock-ui_replacements/ to your /tags/ folder. This is *NOT* safe, and you should absolutely back up your /ui/ tags before replacing them. If you're not planning on building TSC:E, you don't need to do this.

We've done our best to separate "balance-affecting" tags from their models, textures, and so on. Generally speaking:
- Anything in an /evolved/ folder is specifically balanced for TSC:E. Don't just mix and match these with stock HCE, or other mods! It won't work! Read "IMPORTANT - Evolved damage scale.txt" in the /doc/ folder if you want to know how to use them properly.
- Anything in an /h1_spirit/ folder replicates stock Halo 1 behavior as closely as possible. It's fine to mix these with stock HCE, or other mods that integrate with stock HCE. Read /doc/bonus tags/h1_spirit.txt if you want to know more.
- If you're making a multiplayer map, anything ending in "_mp" should *always* be used in favor of its non-mp equivalent. Otherwise, your map will be subject to weird broken behavior, crashes, or worse.
- All other tags should be free to use as you see fit.
