Grimoire is a PC multiplayer shooter where wizards battle in a dark medieval fantasy world for prestige and power using unique and powerful spells. Though inspired by many popular FPS games, Grimoire also features MOBA style spells including everything from devastating “ultimate” attacks to specialized class-based passive skills to customizable classes. We aim to combine the best of FPS with the unique classes and abilities found in MOBA games into fun and engaging wizard combat that rewards precise aim as well as strategic skills and teamwork. Although Grimoire has a total of seven planned game modes we have decided to focus primarily on our three favorites for the games initial release: Conquest, Co-Op Survival, and Arena.

Open Alpha tests are going really well. We have shifted focus to working on a new "Combat Preview" mode, have released a new teaser video, a new landing page, and are planning on doing another test this weekend on 7/13 at 4 PM EST.

The test of Grimoire 0.7.5 on 6/29 went very well and we would like to thank everyone for participating and for the great feedback. One thing we have wanted to get ready is a updated video of Grimoire and the progress we have made since the last video ("What is Grimoire?") was made. With that in mind we recorded footage during the 6/29 test and Kyle has been hard at work, turning that into a new "Teaser" video which we are proud to now release. With the launch of this teaser we also have a new landing page which will be seen when visiting Grimoirethegame.com< .


We would also like to announce a change to our current public testing schedule. Instead of running Alpha tests each weekend we will be switching to a test every other weekend. Along those lines the next test is scheduled for 7/13 at 4 PM EST. With this change we hope to focus more on implementing more content in preparation for Steam Greenlight, Kickstarter, and eventually a Early Release.

This week's focus will be on getting a large update to our current "Practice mode". This will be a huge update and will include an objective to defend, five monsters (Both melee and ranged), and a new map (Based on one of our conquest maps, The Pass.). This new practice mode will eventually be updated further into a full tutorial but until then will serve as a "Combat Preview" that we hope will be a good showcase of Grimoire's combat system, a teaser for our future Co-Op survival mode, and a way for those interested in the game to check it out without needing to schedule around tests or play on servers with high latency. The work done on this Combat preview will also serve multiple other purposes such as providing a base for implementing Bots into multiplayer servers (and single player skirmish modes), allowing us to begin work on the Co-Op survival mode, and as a future tutorial which we hope will make learning the game and its mechanics much easier for new players.

While this new Combat preview mode will be our main focus for the next few weeks we will also be fixing bugs, updating our UI, designing the Co-Op mode, updating our website, and finishing our presskit. All in preparation for a big marketing push before our Kickstarter and Greenlight campaigns scheduled for the end of this Summer.
